We had them in Philadelphia first.  NYC followed 10 years later.  😄 😄 😄

A lot of bad ideas start in Philadelphia, see Spanish Flu, 1918, Gene Mauch, 1964.

My father tried to explain this to me when I was a child but I didn't get it. Had to see it for myself to believe it.

There was also a Soda Mat where you could buy about 50 different sodas with the same principle as the Automat for food.

I am definitely not ready  to cruise .

Never liked big crowed venues for a few years now  but tolerated cruises , but going to wait a couple of years

to resume cruising , if ever .

The answer is ROBOTS!  And Voice activated Automated Dispensers.

Mashed potatoes dispensed from a hose nozzle.  Eggs dropping from a chute.  Steaks moving on a conveyer.

Everyone gets a set of bio-degradeable, disposable gloves that dissolve when they get blown overboard into the salt water.

Tables have dividers making them into mini-booths.  They get sprayed down and wiped after use.  Or maybe separated by paper curtains that get changed out.

The whole Windjammer becomes one big cafeteria line.  RCL will take lunch ladies out of retirement!

THIS IS THE FUTURE!

Keep the line moving and all will be well.

There was actually an attempt to have an Auto Mat in NYC a few years ago but it did not do too well. Most likely because the residents were not around in the days that the Auto Mat was popular.I loved eating at the one in the area where I grew up.

Also Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats are more convenient.

The WJ is my favorite and has been for a long time. If they have servers...fine by me.

Agree, nothing havent done before. Back when I started Cruising on Royal WJ had servers and at Dinner had Waiters, Menu's and even table Cloths. Enjoyed Tea Time everyday they had the best sweets
