Royal Suite - Millennium

Just upgraded to the RS from C1on the Millennium.  It was a pretty good deal considering the premium drinks package, internet and unlimited specialty dining is included.  

 

I've only done the Haven on NCL (which I loved because as a bit of an introvert, I love to be able to escape from the crowds to the 'ship within a ship' concept) and I really value my space (and I am solo).  Since I am doing a transpac, for 16 nights, I will treasure the space.  So, it was worth it for me.

 

What can I expect in comparison to the Haven?  I understand I get two bottles of spirits-is there a list to choose from?  How unlimited is the unlimited specialty dining?  Could I order 5 entrees and no one would think twice (not that I would!)?  

 

I have no idea what will happen with my September 2020 cruise, but I am hoping for the best.  If worse came to worst, I could lift and shift to RS next year.  But I'm hoping it will happen this year 🙂

We haven’t sailed on NCL so I can’t compare to that.  You will be contacted by a Shoreside Concierge 1-2 weeks before your sailing to make any arrangements.

They will ask for any specialty restaurant reservations you want, any special requests/needs, your preferred bottles of spirits;  no set list to choose from.  If you look at the Drink Package info on the website it lists the brands of alcohol included in the Premium Beverage Package will give you an idea of what is available.

The unlimited speciality dining means no limit on the number of evenings (or lunches when open).  I doubt that you could eat 5 entrees, but if you want to try a couple of entrees you can ask for smaller portions.  On the Millennium there are 2 specialty restaurants; Tuscan Grill which is a Italian Steakhouse and Le Petit Chef which is a set menu with 2 seatings a night.  There is also Sushi on 5 which is all carte, since I don’t eat sushi I don’t know how the unlimited specialty dining works in Sushi on 5.  We find Luminae, the dining room for Suite guests , better than the  specialty restaurants so on a 15 night cruise we may go to each specialty once just for some variety. 
 

I hope your cruise sails, we are on the Eclipse TP which sails 2 weeks after Your cruise.

We did royal suite on sister ship infinity in February and have same one booked for next February also, just loved it. As for the bottles there were several to choose from    pretty high end , one had to be vodka we picked McCallen for the scotch and they are liter bottles, because of drink package and suite lounge we never opened the bottles and took them home with us. Never tried ordering more than one entree. Suite is super nice with hot tub on balcony, mini fridge that keeps on being restocked with your choices of beer , water, soda, juice.

You can request something besides the alcohol, we always ask for Champagne (Tattinger, Pierre Jouet,  etc.) and have never been disappointed. At Sushi on 5 you will be able to order what you want as part of the included specialty dining.  They will also restock your mini bar with wine if you choose.

You also received a bottle of good champagne I believe it was Pierre Jouet not counting the liquor.

Nice I like champagne but prefer Caymus, one night Luminae ran out of Decoy and they gave us Caymus as a substitute at no cost. Again love celebrity suite perks 😁

We have been in the Royal Suite on the Solstice, Reflection and Constellation.  I would suggest that you put together a list of your wishes and email them to the shoreside concierge when they contact you.  The list will normally be taken care when you get to your cabin.

 

Include items:

brands for the 2 bottles liquor (our preference is Hendricks gin and Belvedere vodka)

brand of champagne that comes with the room (we change the champagne for a nice bottle of wine)

brand of beer, soft drinks, water (sparkling or still) that you want stocked in the minibar refrigerator

mixers for your type of liquor

lime or lemon wedges for your drinks

extra towels for the bathroom

pool to towels for lounging on your deck

blanket for lounging on your deck if it is cool weather

list of dates and times for the specialty restaurants - If you wait until on board some time slots and dates not available

(dinners - chefs table, champagne dinner etc. are not included with the royal suite dining)

extra lounger for your deck (pool deck type)

 

One great perk that you get is unlimited laundry, dry cleaning and pressing.  We will have a number of items pressed the first day due to the wrinkles from the suite cases.   We also have laundry done every three to four days which helps to reduce the undergarments we have to pack.

 

Also ask the concierge in the (Retreat or Michaels Club) about the bridge tour which normally included a lunch with the officers.

 

I assume the cruise you have referenced in September 2020 on the Millennium is the Transpacific from Vancouver to Tokyo (Yokohama.)  We were booked on that cruise in a royal suite but used the lift and switch to change it to the Transpacific in September 2021.

 

The royal suite experience is great and you will enjoy it.

This is great info.  I didn't know about the laundry-that will come in handy for the long trip across the Pacific!  And I definitely want to do the Chef's table, so I'll plan for that too.

We are new to cruising so unfortunately have not had the luxury of a suite as yet, so can't comment.

However, we were the fourth sailing last year after the Millennium came out of dry dock.

Beautiful ship and everything brand new.

Loved the styling & colours.

I don't think Le Petit Chef was still there.

But Qsine was a new addition and it was fantastic, great experience.

You will have access to the Retreat, faster embarkation and debarkation, priority tender/dock usage, free room service 24 hours, fresh fruit daily (request it in advance or ask the butler), extra scoops of gelato, and much more.  My husband and I look at the Royal Suite as a "cruise within a cruise."  The balcony is fabulous and with the tub filled with cool water we could go for a shallow dip when we wanted to cool off after laying out in the sun.  We never had to fight for a lounger at the pool!

You will also have a separate  location to drop off your luggage and will be met there by Celebrity personnel.  We were on the ship in our suite in less than five minutes.

Is that service for all suites or just the upper class suites?

The luggage drop off is just for upper suites. Celebrity personnel will still meet you at the suites entrance and escort you to check in.  We've only sailed from Ft. Lauderdale since they started this program so not sure how it will work in every port.  Our next cruise is from Seward Alaska and the luggage drop in is just a small building across the lot from the check in so interested in seeing how this will work for RS and PH guests.

We just booked a PH suite on Summit for my 40th bday. Does anyone know if we could get Veuve Cliquot champagne with the premium drink package? Would that be something we could ask the butler to bring us?

 

I am curious in general how the butler works, like can I ask them to bring me a margarita or a bottle of Pinot Grigio?

We did it in Bayonne and yes it is only for the upper suites.

Definitely will get premium drink package and champagne.

not sure about the wine and margarita,  not all butlers are the same.

Hi, nyc2!  My sister and I are also on this cruise - hoping it happens, one way or another!  By that I mean perhaps our itinerary could be changed if we can't go into Japan and we'll have a 'mystery' cruise!  I like surprises; but, please Celebrity, don't outright cancel this cruise.  I need it for my mental health!

We have eaten at Sushi on 5 and really like it, there are lots a cooked dishes on the menu, you can eat a full meal with no sushi at all. We actually think they should rename it because the word Sushi could put some people off. You can pay a fee for sushi on 5 normally so it would just be included the same as a Tuscan.

I hear ya.  I am perfectly fine floating in the Pacific for 16 nights.  I have a table of candles lit hoping the cruise goes.  I do wonder if they will move it to Seattle instead of Vancouver for embarkation.  Either way, I just hope they let us know sooner than later!!  See you on the boat!

Congrats on a great upgrade. We sailed RS on Millie Transpacific in Sept ‘16 and loved every minute. Can’t add any more than what others have said except to enjoy to the fullest. We especially love the service and pampering of Luminae. 

 

Did you ever ever have any luck with your airfare from the cancelled Spring cruise?

Still waiting on Celebrity Air. They tell me it is in the stack to be done. At this point, I doubt anything will happen fast.
