Carnival - according to cruiseindustrynews is shopping around for a shipyard to start/complete the rebuilding.

True, I posted the article in another thread.  I was very surprises to see it.  They (Carnival) were very pleased with the Cadiz work on the Sunrise.   Makes me think some changes, either in timing or work effort made this happen.

Still showing in my planner: 179 days until January 2 Mardi Gras.  🤷🏼‍♀️

I have to say I’m glad they decided this far in advance.  We have 3 cabins booked and have been going back and forth about cancelling.

My account still says I'm sailing on Magic in 52 days. They didn't waste any time on my Breeze on though. It was gone from my account this morning.

Got hit by 2.  My last 2 booked with Carnival.  Oh well.

If I choose rebook with OBC, I forfeit any future option to cancel with a refund right?

Got it!  It was in junk lol.  Now I am wondering what the kids’ clubs will look like.  Will they even be open?

No clue. I believe it's down on deck 4 aft by the arcade and thrill theater.

Any clue when the next official statement will come down?

I spoke to a Carnival agent today to have my credit from my Mardi Gras cruise transferred to my Miracle cruise in April (hopefully it won't be cancelled).  I told her I was shocked that I could get through.  She said they were only dealing with cancellations for the Mardi Gras and one other ship and that calls will be backed up Friday.  I am guessing more cruises will be cancelled Thursday or Friday.

I'm sure they dont want things any more complicated than needed.  I was a manager with a major corporation and a lot of the decisions we had to make did not make sense to the rank and file.  Sometimes what seemed the most obvious answer simply wasn't viable.  Carnival was dealt a hand they weren't expecting and things had to be resolved in the easiest , most cost effective way to satisfy as many of their customers they can.  I dont want to hear that Carnival or any other company doesn't care about their customers.  Return customers are the milk and bread of any corporation.

Listen, I don't need to hear any logic or reason from you!  Carnival is out to make my life miserable, it is the sole reason why they exist!

😜

Thank you for putting that very succinctly.

I haven't received the Radiance->Breeze swap email from Carnival yet (yes, I checked junk and other possible folders).

I guess they are still processing away.  I expect to get it sometime today, I guess, then the cabin re-assignment on Friday from what I understand.

We're OK with the swap - we were on the Breeze last September to Bermuda.  But we were looking forward to buying a different ship model to add to our collection...

We  were booked on the Radiance  for Dec.2020.  1 Made  the reservation  almost 2 years ago.  I am worried about catching the virus, but I do take hydroxychloroquine   ( for Rheumatoid Arthritis) and have for 20 years.  It lessons the damage inflammation RH does to heart, lungs, etc.  Makes sense it would help lesson any inflammation. But my husband does not. I am praying we have a vaccine before that. I think about when it will be normal again, but will we be the way we were then?  DO  you have hand sanitizer in your car, your glove compartment, your China cabinet?)  Do you have enough masks to host a Halloween party? Will you ever let anyone shake your hand again?  Hug you?
Other than that, I love  the Breeze.  We have been on it once.  It is big. Lots of dining  venues  with most free or very affordable.  Loved  the casino even though it did not love me back. Loved the Trivia.
I am  very hopeful.
And I thank God every day that no one I know, or know of, has had covid-19.
If we  get onboard credit, can we use it to upgrade  to a Cove Balcony on the Breeze?  We were booked in an Ocean View on the Fifth Deck of the Radiance (  the new ones). It seems to be like the Sunshine except the Interiors with windows  on the Third Deck does not have the sofa on the Radiance. I LOVED  those cabins on the Sunshine. They were the best deal we got in cruising.

You can apply the on board credit for any future cruise.  You cannot use it to pay the deposit however.

AFAIK, the OBC can only be used for on-board purchases - you can't have it applied to your cruise fare.

$200 in OBC is nice, and we'll spend it easily on added drink tips (we'll have Cheers, but we like to top up the "zero" bill with a small tip) and photos and probably t-shirts or other trinkets.

In theory we could wait to book a Carnival Shore excursion once on board, and the OBC could go towards that, but we'll book well in advance - probably still through Carnival.

Are you thinking of the Future Cruise Credit, vs the OBC?

On one cruise (Mardi Gras) We have rolled the fcc to another cruise 5 times now (were scheduled on the 1/23 until yesterday).  Now all rolled on a regular balcony on what I hope is the initial sailing 2/6).  I cannot imagine the accounting tied to it.   Now if we can just get on the damn ship.

I'm guessing they will be backed up with calls on Friday for cancellations or cabin change requests (if possible) once the new cabin assignments for Radiance/Breeze/Magic are sent out.

I was supposed to cruise on the Breeze this November.  I fully expected my cruise to be cancelled because of the virus.  I did not however expect it to be cancelled because they are taking the ship so others can cruise on it!  That's the part that makes me angry and frustrated.  Even if it was because of moving out of Port Everglades why not take the Breeze original sailings and just move them to Port Canaveral and cancel the Radiance sailings?  I'm sure it is because of money.  I know there is a good chance those cruises on the Breeze will be cancelled anyways but it is still upsetting.  Especially when comparable cruises at comparable time frames are quite a bit more for the same type of cabin.

I much prefer sailing out of Port Everglades.  I fly SW nonstop and it's a quick Uber to the port.  But I've recently flown down the morning of (flight gets in around 9:15) and take one of the $25 shuttle services down to Miami and am there in plenty of time.  I detest flying to Orlando and then having that long shuttle ride to Pt C.  Too many screaming kids on flights in/out of Orlando!

Considering Legend out of Tampa instead.  7 nights instead of 8 and Western itineraries don't do much for me these days.  Or a B2B on Sensation.  I happen to like the Fantasy class and haven't been on that one.

Or apply the FCC to Legend Med Oct 2021 or Spirit Oz Feb 2022 and sail a different line in next January (either HAL (have an FCC/OBC to use from them!) or MSC).

What would make the most sense would be to just NOT replace the Breeze sailing and have save my money for the Escape TA in April 2021.

Of course, who knows about the X Infinity sailing in March.  I might end up with FCCs on 4 different lines within the next few months.  Here I thought I was safe booking in 2021. 😄

Surprised that Radiance is delayed? No..not at all. Am I surprised that my Feb-Mar Breeze cruise is canceled before my November and December Vista cruises because Radiance was delayed? Yeah....pretty surprised by that one.

My update is I replaced Breeze with another Vista cruise the same week. Less exciting ports but it’s a ship I can drive to and an embarkation port I feel confident will be among the first carnival ports in use.

And Vista is ridiculously cheap right now. I booked the room next to the one I had last year except it’s $500 cheaper this time. I guess I’m just going to be collecting cheap Vista cruises (I have 3) and worst case scenario they turn into FCCs with $600 OBC.
