One of the Stanford clinics is open on Sundays, 8-4:30 as of today.  Does the COVID testing-48 hour turnaround time. It is the Galvez Lot clinic in Palo Alto and we be connected to the clinic by calling the same number above.

Awesome! If we decide to get our testing done in SF, it’s likely we will stay in the city so the Sutter clinic works well for us.

The president of FP announced in Paris today that there are some imminent changes to the current entry requirements. Apparently this was precipitated, at least partially, by the problems Air Tahiti Nui was having with lack of passengers.

 

 

On this last point, President Édouard Fritch reassured the company by indicating that, in consultation with the State authorities, the entry protocol for travelers would change in the coming days.

Who thinks Windstar will resume Tahiti cruises in January? At this point, I highly doubt it. Many of Windstar's passengers are going to have problems with meeting FP's covid testing requirements for entry to the country to take their cruises. I know I will and this is going to cause me to have to cancel both the flights, on UA, the hotel precrusie, and the cruise. 

 

Many other cruise lines are now pushing back their resume sailing dates into February of 2021. I expect Windstar to follow soon.

After I was reading about it, I found where american airlines is promoting the same test.  https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/covid-19-testing.jsp. If you go through the AA link it cost $129 or if you go to Let's Get Checked's direct site it's $119.

 

I'm always skeptical about these types of things, I was work in healthcare fraud, waste and abuse!  However, once I saw AA was promoting this testing method to fly to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Costa Rico it made me wonder if it was a legitimate option.

We were supposed to leave tomorrow for Tahiti and a Windstar cruise.  We had worked out plans A, B, and C to make sure that we would be able to board our Delta Flight.  Unfortunately both Windstar and Delta canceled our reservations.  We have friends that opted to just spend four plus weeks on the islands.  (Can you feel my jealousy through the internet?)

 

A - Get test locally.  I called the approved labs to see where we could get a test with 48 hour results.

B - Pay to have a test done in our home ($500 plus the cost of each of our tests)

C - Fly to Los Angeles one day early and get the test about 25 miles from the airport.  (What our friends did)

Thinking this could probably happen in many cities with the demand for PCR testing increasing. 

A suburb of our humble but lovely Portland Oregon is now offering COVID PCR testing with a 24 hour turnaround time or less for $99. Extra fees if you have no prescription to present or need it on a weekend. It's in Hillsboro about 25 min from the airport.

Again I mention to Tahiti bound cruisers not to suggest that you make a stop in Portland.....but if it's happening here it must be coming soon to a theater near you.

We plan to use the Pixel by LabCorp mail in swab test for our trip to the BVIs this winter. Hearing lots of success in using this kit for those traveling to the USVIs. So far they do not have the specificity around which labs are accepted, etc, just that it needs to be PCR. If we get the kit on a Monday, do the swab, drop off in FedEx box by 3pm Monday, we will have our results no later than Wednesday.

For Tahiti, will def stick to one of the approved labs.
