Not that I am aware of. This coin is a ceremonial milestone, it seems to be heavy bolted in so it may be on board near a plaque or this could be the entire thing. Normally a similar coin would be placed under the first (mega)block, the traditional coin laying ceremony. And after float out it would be stored/given/kept on board etc. Sometimes a yard gives souvenirs to those invited, a small laser cut silhouette of the ship on a small wooden display stand at first steel cut celebration was/is common at Meyer Werft for example. FreestyleNovice Posted August 5, 2021 Author #1681 Share Posted August 5, 2021 Oh and there have been folks making their own ship pins on in at least the Encore inaugural, not on a commercial base but rather more for the keepsake/memory of the cruise. This photo would serve as a fine example.. I am sure they/he or she will be reading along.

BenCoudon Posted August 5, 2021 #1683 Share Posted August 5, 2021 (edited) Not sure if anyone noticed that for the Haven Private elevators, on the NCL deck plan, although there is also a Haven sundeck is on deck 17, the elevators stop at deck 16. And there is a stairs from the Haven lounge going up to deck 17. So anyone that may have some mobility impairements won't be able to go to that deck. I am also wondering why that sun deck is restricted to Haven. The sundeck with the pool on deck 16 is huge and given the number of suites in the Haven (around a hundred if I remember well), not sure there is a need for that additional sundeck. I have seen something similar on the Getaway with a Haven sundeck located on the deck above the courtyard. During a 2 week cruise, I have seen no more than 10 people on that sundeck. There was not even bar service there. Agreed that some people are looking for quiet spots. But giving the entire aft of the ship as a secondary sundeck is way too much. For a quiet area, 1/3 of that space would have been enough. It looks like they are repeating the same mistake. I understand that they want to give Haven guests lots of space but too much is no better than not enough. You pay a premium for the Haven to get that feel of open decks just there for you. If you don't want that, then I would say book a club suite instead. I for one never think there is "too much" open empty deck space in front of me. As for mobility, there may be a small secondary elevator between the top Haven decks, but there is no way they would have a deck that is not accessible to handicapped individuals, as that would not go over well.

BenCoudon Posted August 5, 2021 #1687 Share Posted August 5, 2021 You have all the rights to disagree. That what makes good discussions 🙂 On the Getaway, as I had a knee surgery not to long before my cruise, I asked if there was an elevator to that area. And there wasn't.You will throw stones at me but the reason I wanted to go there was only because the only tiny smoking area for the Haven was in the far corner of that deck. So I took the stairs several times each day (it was a TA so lots of sea days). Every morning the Haven crew set-up day beds, lounge chairs with towels and other facilities. At the end of the day, they were removing everything and 95 % of them had not been used. I also like to have lots of space. But look at the deck plan. To use the entire aft area of 2 decks for about 100 persons, (less than half of the people are using the sun deck) I just find it too much. Space on a ship has a high value and I believe that there will be wasted space there, especially with limited bar service, if any

Agree. On the Star, there is no elevator to go to the Sky High bar and the sun deck in the front of the ship located behind that bar. On the Epic, to access the specialty restaurant La Cucina, you have to walk all the way to the back of the Garden Cafe and take the stairs to go down to the restaurant. There is an emergency door that opens on a deck that has elevator. But if you want to go to la Cuccina, someone has to go to the restaurant to tell the crew to open that door. Exiting the restaurant is easier. And there are many other examples where access is very limited for people that have mobility problems

One would hope that they would use the occasion of designing a brand new type of ships that they would correct those problems. The Jewel class ships are about 20 years old. Providing better access to certain places was not a priority in those years. But it has changed and it is difficult to understand why they would still do these things

It all depends on the destination and the time of the year you are sailing. On a holiday cruise, I'm sure there will be much more kids in all cabin types. My own experience in the Haven had very few kids and some tenagers. It was mainly older couples. Lots of seniors are not using the pool decks
