nycruiser2006 Posted October 10, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2020 I am currently booked on a January 10, 2021 cruise on the Caribbean Princess. It was booked on the first round of Cason's offers. Exactly how does the free play money work? Do they give you the cash at the Casino cashier, or table chips, or do they put it on you players card? thanks
Rare azbirdmom Posted October 10, 2020 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) It depends on the ship. Some are able to put it on your casino account so you simply need to download all or part at a machine or table using your cruise card / Medallion. Other ships just give you cash. It was my understanding that they were working towards enabling the first option on all ships, it was just taking a while to get there. And you need to go to the casino cashier cage to get it set up. suekel Posted October 10, 2020 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2020 I would advise taking a copy of your travel summary. Last cruise the casino had no record so I had to show them my summary to get the $$ they offered. Just to be sure. Granted, this wasn't a casino cruise but they had still given me some casino credit. Rare CineGraphic Posted October 11, 2020 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2020 When you go to the cashier, they will ask you if you want the free play for slots or table games. It's either/or, can't be used for both.
Bridalgownz Posted October 11, 2020 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2020 I've never had them give me cash. It was always on my players care. Usually you have to go to the cashier to get it loaded onto your card. Once you cash out of your machine, your winnings go back on your card. To actually cash out, you have to go to the cashier. Rare roxievegas Posted October 11, 2020 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2020 When we first started cruising we would bring cash for the cruise that we would use for the casino. Now we just make sure that the credit card company is aware that we will be on a cruise and there will be large charges to the card. Once you have your account set up, you can go to the casino cage, ask to have money put on your card/medallion (they put the charge on your cabin). example: You go to the cage and if you have any offer for "free play" you ask to have it on your room card - once you go to the machine or table you set yourself up with a passcode. Every time you change machines you have to enter the passcode and chose how much you want to play on that machine ( $10, $25, $50 or $100). You don't have to play the full amount, the unused will go back onto your account. It will show you how much you left of your "free play" money or the money you requested to have put on your account. If you win and want to take the money out, you go to the casino cage and ask for the money from your account. I hit $600 on a machine and shared it with my hubby, so I went to the cage and asked for $300. He then put the $300 in his machine, and it was now on his account.
triple7tahoe Posted October 12, 2020 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2020 Free play in the casino (from offers) has always been put on my card or medallion. If the ship happens to be offering any form of reward per units played, they do not start until casino free play is used up. It also seems that you must use all of the free play before you can cash out. I like to try and keep track of when the free play money has been used and I start to get "cash out" money. On another cruise line if you get chips, they are special ones which cannot be turned in for cash. But any regular chips you win using the special ones can be cashed in whenever you want. memoak Posted October 12, 2020 #10 Share Posted October 12, 2020 Back in the day they used to hand us cash but several years ago that changed. Last 3-4 cruises it has been loaded on our cruise card or given as chips. One or the other you can’t split it up

Keep the free play chips separate from any I hopefully win playing craps. Then once the special ones are gone I am good to go cash in!

On our cruise last august 2019, to Alaska...we received our free play money in cash ( Grand Princess). First time in a long long time to receive cash. Usually it gets loaded to our card.

Just take a look at the ports we are supposed to visit and check them out on the quaranteed list. Sorry but it's inevitable. Royal is will be starting with 3 and 4 day cruises visiting only their private islands in January which means this is not good.
