Rare MMDown Under Posted January 6, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2021 How come this flight didn't receive any local publicity? Did I miss something? Welcome Kiwis.
NSWP Posted January 6, 2021 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2021 But we cannot go to NZ, not fair. Australian Govt should not have agreed to allowing Kiwis to enter Australia without NZ allowing Aussies in. Standby for spears and empty Steinlager bottles arriving from over the dutch, lol.

Your Govt invited the Kiwis to come. over to help support your tourist industry. There are only a few flights compared with the traffic that used to be and with the current publicity of the chaos over there there will probably be even less . Meanwhile the tourist industry here is booming as Kiwis holiday at home and spend what they would normally spend overseas .

The Kiwis love the Gold Coast David, I have stayed in apartment buildings up there in winter and 90% occupied by Kiwis, they do bring a lot of $$$$ into Qld. bazzaw Posted January 6, 2021 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2021 Just make sure that the KIWIS fully understand that Australia is a federation of STATES - and they can't necessarily just take off elsewhere within the country. Come to Qld - but stay in Qld! , etc.
Rare MicCanberra Posted January 6, 2021 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2021 I think the border restrictions will deter a few from coming over just yet, and of course they may end up having to quarantine on their return to NZ anyway.

Yes, many own their apartments. Lots of Kiwis at Main Beach, Gold Coast. So until the pandemic, they had the best of both worlds, living between NZ and Gold Coast. Kiwi Kruzer Posted January 6, 2021 Author #12 Share Posted January 6, 2021 It was reported that very few Kiwis were on the first flight , mostly Aussies returning home without the need or cost to quarantine.

Looks like the first flight was not very popular ,only 25 passengers and they have now gone into lockdown in Brissie Bubble looking further and further away https://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/travel-troubles/123900620/from-level-1-to-lockdown-25-nz-passengers-fly-straight-into-brisbane-lockdown

Not only City of Brisvegas is in lockdown, but Greater Brizvegas.
