Alaska northern lights small ship cruise options?

Looking for an Alaska small ship cruise itinerary for Northern Lights viewing. Any suggestions?

Unless you are on the Alaska Marine Highway ferries I doubt any small ship will be sailing late enough in the season to see them.  Best ask on the Alaska board under ports of call

It is pretty rare to see Northern Lights on Alaaka cruises, no matter the size of the ship. You would likely to need to sail late is September,  and as far north as possible. Otherwise it's too light most of the time.

For aurora, Fairbanks in February or March.

I guess I have been very fortunate then to see them between Sitka and Icy Strait when sailing the last few days of August into the first week in September.  

 

Early August trips yielded no sightings....

You can find cruises to Norway during Octoberish. Probably better chance there.

 

A friend did see some faint Northern Lights in September one night. Very lucky and rare.
