parrja Posted March 8, 2021 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2021 The above cabin seems to be what I am looking for on the APEX. But looking at the picture of the stateroom, the window seems to be round...just wondering how you get out to the verandah? Perhaps the sliding window opens as most do so you don't have to walk the circle, but I can't tell. Perhaps someone on this board can tell me... as you can probably sense, I don't want a infinite verandah.
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 8, 2021 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2021 There are sliding glass doors.
HS2BS Posted March 8, 2021 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2021 The pictures posted above show that the cut in the ships side is round and the balcony is behind the cutout. Hal
WestLakeGirl Posted March 10, 2021 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Another thing to consider with those rooms is if they come with black out curtains
Alakegirl Posted March 10, 2021 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Is that window washing equipment on the edge of the photo?
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 10, 2021 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2021 Yes, and I believe that this room was reclassified as “obstructed view”
Cruise a holic Posted March 10, 2021 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2021 The advantage of that room, over a Balcony is that the infinite balcony isn't a true balcony- these cove balconies are more like a true balcony. IMO so much better. One person can be on balcony without a/c closing in the room. Another option for a traditional balcony is an aft balcony. So much better then the infinite balcony IMO. The "cove" balcony cabins are towards the front of the ship so not the greatest location.
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 10, 2021 #8 Share Posted March 10, 2021 There are also some in the aft.
Alakegirl Posted March 11, 2021 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2021 The verandah isn’t very big but at least it’s a verandah, not just an operable window
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 11, 2021 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2021 On the edge, the joke was that the “balcony” was a ledge. But it was a source of fresh air, and access wasn’t controlled by the bridge.
jeno Posted April 23, 2021 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2021 Do you know if adjoining balconies can be linked by opening doors between them? It seems not because it seems they could possibly be open to each other’s cabins. I’m having a hard time understanding the concept. Thanks. Rare cruisestitch Posted April 23, 2021 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) I think there is a possibility to open the barrier between adjacent balconies. It would not make one large balcony shared between the two rooms, it would only give access between them. The opening would not be very large. I tried to get a picture of the wall between the adjacent balconies but wasn’t able to get one that will definitively answer your question. I did ask the steward if it was possible, but he was so new on the job, he didn’t know the answer. Edited April 23, 2021 by cruisestitch
