We made the decision that we wanted them to experience a more diverse cultural setting. Do you remember Guarino's Christmas display?

Yes,I was born in Brooklyn .I agree with you about Astoria being more diverse but so is Park Slope where Methodist Hospital is located. I had two friends who moved from Astoria to Canarsie but did not stay there that long.

I forgot to mention that we often met Curtis Sliwa who was then a teenager who rode his bicycle and collected cans and stuff to recycle. It's interesting that Queens is now the most ethnically diverse county in the continental United States with over 160 languages spoken. Great restaurants in area! Astoria, however, is being "Yuppified" by those who can't afford to live in Manhattan.

My wife (before we were married) lived on Ave.J between E.89 and Remsen Ave.She remembers him . When I went to Astoria in the 50’s it was mainly a Greek and Italian area. My wife and I were there in 2014 to go to the Museum of Moving Image and we went to a great Greek restaurant .I cannot recall the name.We were on Senior tour. I know that many people are moving from Manhattan to Astoria and LIC.
