Every time I watch these it makes me want to go back even more.......

Thanks again. Lois. for this appreciation.  We also can't wait to sail again, and re-watching the videos increases that feeling. And yes, we did have a great time and the food was very yummy!  That's why we're very much looking forward to your thoughts on your experiences on Silver Moon with lots of envy!

We received an FCC on our Galapagos trip and will be applying it to a cruise on the new Silver Moon sailing in 2022. Since the layout of the Moon is similar to the Silver Muse, can anyone on this thread who has sailed on the Muse recommend a particular deck level for a suite?  We are considering a midship location on either Deck 6, which is directly above the Dolce Vita lounge or Deck 7.  There are several suites available on Deck 6 but the only suites left on Deck 7 are near the lobby door leading to the grand stairway and the ship's casino.  We are leaning towards a suite which is two in from the lobby door on Deck 7 since we fear Deck 6 will have noise from the lounge below at night.  Comments and recommendations are greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Lois,

Glad you enjoyed the Corsica video. Corsica is North of Sardinia in the Mediterranean, just off the Italian coast, about level with Rome. Ajaccio is on the west coast of Corsica. And the food was fantastic on board. Can't wait to hear what you think about Silver Moon food, especially the S.A.L.T restaurant with its local destination flavours.

Thanks, Lvshack for your kind words. We agree with you that we can't wait to get back to cruising, and we're waiting until 2022.  In the meantime, the videos are the only way to keep us going.

Good morning, Sail, once again, thanks so much for sharing.🙂  Have a question for you. I have been to Dubrovnik before but never to Cavtat.......so, once the boat ride got you there, what did you do for the rest of the tour?  Walk around for sightseeing? Just curious if there is something special there?

Hi again Lois, we've been to Dubrovnik a number of times and we always prefer to explore places independently. So we felt that we'd like something different this time away from the crowds in Dubrovnik.

Cavtat is a very small picturesque town and the 45 minute boat journey provides beautiful scenic views close to the coastline along the way. We just wanted a relaxing morning trip, so we walked around the locality and had a drink at a shoreside cafe watching the world go by before returning to the ship for lunch. It was easy to do this independently as the boat left the harbour from a place very close to the tender drop-off point from Silver Muse.

We are long time Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruisers.  The smallest ships we have cruised in the past were about 2000 passengers.  We usually sail in suites on these lines.  Any changes to Silversea since they were taken over by Royal?  We were told our loyalty benefits (E+ and D+ respectively) have no reciprocity with Silversea. True?

Anyway looking at the Silver Muse to Alaska in July-August.  Is there any significant advantage of a Silver Suite over the Deluxe/Superior/Classic suite balcony category?  Other than size?  The price is about 50% more pp.    Is there any secrets that first time Silversea cruisers need to know when choosing a suite (type and location)?

Correct.

There are none in our opinion that justifies the price.  Every SS passenger is treated equally regardless of suite type.  Some folks like the bigger suite for canapé and cocktail parties, but the same can be arranged in the traditional suites as well, if necessary.

None, really.  Some folks prefer lower mid-ship locations if they are sensitive to the seas, because you will definitely feel the waves more in a small ship.

Have fun planning!

We believe that there is no reciprocity of loyalty benefits with the two cruise lines. This is what was announced in April 2019 when Project Invictus was unveiled to enhance guests' cruising experience -

Hey Rick🙂....location is normally the factor too........Now, the BIG SUITES? Those would be the most expensive.  You probably know I used to regularly sail with X.......I found SS in 2017 and LOVE IT😃

I guess as I have gotten older, I have come to the realization I love the smaller ships......2000 comparted to  600.....they have a few ships that are even smaller than MUSE.

I know Suite Guests on X have their own dining room (I never had a suite on X)......the food on SS is awesome....all the way around🙂......

Hope this helps a bit.

We chose a Silver Suite on the Muse because the bedroom can be closed off with sliding doors.  Important to us because DH likes to stay up a bit later and watch TV.  Also, a big perk especially for longer cruises.... free laundry each and every day if you want.  You can pack half the wardrobe.  Other than that, from what I have seen, all the cabins are beautiful.  One more thing, we chose the deck up the outside stairs from the pool. We were a few doors down from the outside doors that opened on to that deck. We loved that.  We did find the pizza restaurant a bit too convenient.

Hi TeeRick. The Silver Suites are gorgeous.  My only issue with them on the Muse/Spirit is that they are on the upper decks which can sway a bit more in bumpy seas & that does happen in Alaska. It doesn't affect everyone - just wimpy sailors like me.  You'll find it's hard to go wrong with the size or layout  of any of the suites.  Enjoy.

Yes Lois I do remember you.  Nice to meet you again.  I think a smaller ship like on SS is the way to get back to cruising as the pandemic continues to play out worldwide.  Fewer passengers and crew means less chance of the cruise ending due to a COVID issue, although fairly unlikely if everybody is vaccinated.  The X ships have become larger and larger.  That has not been a problem for us and we will sail them again.  I started looking at SS as a very good alternative to X for the Galapagos itinerary.  The price of X in most suites now has become pretty equivalent to SS suites.  I think a ship like Muse with so many restaurants is a nice change from dining in the X suite restaurant Luminae (which is excellent).

Thanks for posting this.  I had not heard of Project Invictus (strange name?) before now.  Silversea holds a key place in the RCG corporation now that they have sold Azamara.

My dw loves having a private bedroom with a door as I tend to get up much earlier than her.  We usually sail the more premium suites on X with the separate bedroom option for that reason.  So a Silver Suite seems to be a good choice.  After not cruising since Jan 2020 and not traveling, we have saved enough money that would have been spent on other cancelled cruises.  We missed our 40th anniversary in July 2020 when our Iceland cruise got cancelled.  We replaced it this year with a Norway cruise (also now cancelled).  So we are thinking of Muse to Alaska to finally celebrate!  We went to Alaska on Millennium years ago.

Thanks!  I know a smaller ship will sway a bit more.  That usually does not bother us too much.  We pack ginger chewables in case we start to feel sick in very rough seas.  The Muse Alaska sailing will be mostly inside passage in Alaska and pretty protected from high seas.

Our day in the port of Dubrovnik is now posted on YouTube, including a walk around the picturesque city, followed by poolside lunch on board. Then evening dining in Atlantide Restuarant and poolside entertainment with Death by Chocolate Buffet.
