A question on specialty dinning. Can i make the reservation now for our Sept 21 but pay onboard with our OBC? looks like when i go to make the reservation it wants you to pay now? Am i missing some thing or do i just need to make the reservation once on board?

Gotta wait until you are onboard to use obc. With all the obc around, this will be interesting. I'm worried about excursions and steak restaurant myself.

Be interesting to see feedback from early cruisers on oversold issues.

You will need to wait until on board.

Carnival implemented the prepay due to too many people making reservations, and then not showing up. I would suggest prebooking your reservation, then seeing them onboard to cancel and rebook. I believe if you cancel, the prepay will be refunded back to your credit card, and not added as OBC.

Like the above poster said.

You may prepay for your reservation, and then cancel your reservation on board and rebook with OBC.

That was from John Heald (whom I know not everyone loves but he has always answered every question I have had honestly and fairly).

Did you book your specialty dining then have to go through payment process?

I have several booked, did not have to pay when I booked them online.  I did the bookings a few months ago, not sure if it changed.

They did ask for a credit card for the reservation payment. At that point i backed out as i have over $650 OBC that i want to use. Will make a reservation once onboard and take what ever time they have.

Is there still the option to use OBC to purchase chips or slot $'s... and then cash out?

I can't recall - it's been years since I used OBC for the casino.

You can add funds to your casino bank and OBC should cover it.

I did that it the past to make sure there was no unspent OBC by the end of the cruise. I believe others have posted that it may not work to "cash out" OBC via the casino. I don't know how they'd differentiate how the OBC was used. I think it should still work and will try it early in the cruise. I know we will spend more than the OBC we have so, it doesn't really matter in my case.

I like prepaying for most of my expense in advance and then load OBC for drinks or ask for it as a BDay Present. I forgo the drink package as I can't drink many drinks in a day and also in Port my excursions include alcohol. I figure I can buy my drinks ala carte on my terms.

If you want to make a reservation once onboard rather than now, do you need to go to the steakhouse to do that?

Usually on the first day they have little tables in obvious areas set up trying to reel folks in to make reservations. Otherwise yea, gotta go to steakhouse or give them a ring.
