Per person revenue, adults always beat out kids

Kids sail with adults, so that should make them more valuable.  A family of four will spend more than only two adults. Plus, a child is less likely to have a severe case of covid.

Four adults will out spend two adults, two children.  My responses were to the poster who wanted to claim kids in higher cost cabins would be selected over kids sailing in interiors.

Well color me dumb, but this doesn't make sense to me as this letter is specific to the Horizon sailing on 04/21/2021.....or 2 months ago....when NO ships were sailing. What am I missing here????

I think it is just written in the non American way. 4/7/21 is the fourth day of the seventh month.

I could agree with that IF the Horizon was sailing anywhere  but in the U.S. ,it is sailing from a U.S. port, I wish we could have seen the FULL announcement. Perhaps it would have been signed by someone we recognize. It's just something smells fishy to me.

It’s legit. A ton of folks have received the email for their kids. They all had the date the EU way.

But if the kids cannot go, that might also mean the parents will also not go and find and alternative vacation for the family.

It is a medical reason for severe allergic reaction up to and including death. So, our doctor could provide anything that they need. But, I called CCL and they said they don't know what will happen in September and that they would give us back our deposit if we cancelled. So, we did that and will hope that they work things out in the future.

Right - she'll have to get it eventually. We have another cruise in October with an NCL-owned company (Oceania) and I don't think they allow exemptions. That is, as of now since things change by the minute!

I'm confused, either she is medically unable or not. If she will get it by October so you can go on a NCL cruise, then what's the harm in getting it now so you guys aren't at the whim of this exemption lottery and possibly taking up a spot from someone who actually cannot get it. I'm also under the impression that different vaccine makers are using different ingredients, so someone allergic to the ingredient of one vaccine will likely be able to take a different vaccine safely....

Due to medical issues unrelated to Covid, I was given a window where I was unable to receive the vaccine (ie, could not take it until certain number of days after a given diagnosis or procedure). This could be the case here. Not sure how it would apply to allergies, but it certainly can be prescribed by doctors as "unsafe now but okay after xx days".

I am on the July 4th sailing of the Horizon. The only people in my roll call to receive exemptions were children and they didn't get them until about a week and a half before sailing. I don't believe any adults received them. They do allow for full refunds since it is past the final payment date. I am not sure how that will translate to later sailings. They are being extra cautious. No oxygen, no dialysis, no unvaccinated younger children's programming. No slot pulls. The unvaccinated cannot get off in port unless they are part of a Carnival bubble excursion and some ports possibly not at all because the excursions do not exist yet.  There are many who have cancelled due to the restrictions. I would say if you are unvaccinated and don't want a heavily restricted cruise, then it's best to wait a few months until things change.

There is no such evidence of this.  It would make the most sense then to give all exemption slots to adults.  Children aren't sources of revenue.

Agree to disagree here. I spend way, WAY more on my kids when they're with me than I ever would on myself.

How much did the kids rack up in the casino and salon?  Photos? Bar tab?

A ton. I'm more likely to buy pictures if they're my entire family. Plus more likely to buy excursions for us to go on. Plus candy shop visits, build a bear, arcade, suess breakfast and activities, etc. And I buy souvenirs for them and not myself. The only thing they won't be spending money on is the casino. But I don't go there either, as a lot of adults don't for various reasons, so they wouldn't get money from me there either. And as others point out, if my kid can't go, then I would cancel the entire trip. I only have one under 12, but have 2 older kids. So if they didn't make an exception for my one child, they are losing 5 other fares.

One unvaxed adult can rack up that 10x in one night in the casino and drinks.  Carnival also knows who spends money and how much so it is in their best interest to factor in spending patterns before granting exemptions.

If cruise ships made money off kids, then they would turn them into Day Care Centers. Money on cruises are made from adults. Kids are an extremely small part of the revenue streams. Now, if you had to buy a $500 drink package, pay full fare for the kids, and several $100 or $1000s in the casino for them, I would agree. Paying $20 for $5 worth of candy in the candy shop will in no way compete for the revenue streams of adults.
