puppymama1 Posted June 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2021 We are currently booked on the 8/25/22 sailing of the Emerald Princess British Isles cruise. But because of a conflict with getting a pet sitter we have to change our dates. Which dates would be best out of these choices: 6/2/22, 6/26/22, 7/20/22, or 9/18/22? I know the days are longer in June but didn’t know if rain or rough seas might be more likely in certain months. Thanks!
CruiserBruce Posted June 19, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Rough seas can be a problem any time, anywhere, and they are not predictable more than a few days in advance. If we remember our history a little, June 1944 was a pretty nasty month, weather-wise, barely getting the D-Day landings in between storms, and then a very nasty storm about 2 weeks after the landing did major damage to the landing beaches, temporary ports, etc.
Rare VMax1700 Posted June 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Something else to bear in mind is that there are a couple of public holidays on Thursday 2nd June and Friday 3rd June for the Queen's jubilee. Could lead to hotel and transport problems.
puppymama1 Posted June 19, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted June 19, 2021 We are leaning towards 7/20 or 9/18 if we change from 8/25... Anything good or bad between those dates? Thanks!
Langoustine Posted June 19, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2021 Pick 7/20. You may actually have summer weather for one or two days.
puppymama1 Posted June 20, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted June 20, 2021 We actually decided today to completely change everything and switch this British Isles cruise for a Viking Mediterranean cruise with an itinerary we like a lot better... but thanks for all your help!
nini Posted June 25, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2021 That will be a real weather shift if you are going in the Summer. IMHO, the Med is much cooler in the Fall or Spring. We went in mid to late October 2018 and it was quite warm in Italy and Greece even then.
MBP&O2/O Posted June 27, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2021 When I was in college we had a Meteorology lecturer whose favour comment was “Everywhere in the world has climate …. Britain has weather” 😁 One time, in May, we arrived in London, in Tropical Uniform … right down to shorts 🤢…. yet last May was one of the wettest on record! Forget the weather and the sea .. they will do what they do and even the day before the forecast is likely to be wrong. You can’t win 🙄
