Thoughts on Carnival Magic?

Yes that's true, we were speaking of deck 5 Promenade as I recall. My wife is intimidated by athletes rushing by so we'll stay with deck 5. Thank you for mentioning this.

Not much done, the new paint job on the hull, and upgrades to Waterworks, the pool area and the casino.

Lol and Magic was my favorite ship. John came to join our group, was friends with a guy who lead our crazies group. Woke up thursday to towel animals all over the pool deck.

 

Miracle to alaska my favorite carnival cruise, but magic my favorite ship on carnival. I booked vista again only because its 7 days. Hard choice. 

 

As my signature says I also have oasis and allure booked and cant wait for those either.

 

As long as we dont have something unexpected, i cant wait to board and head off to book JiJis s and my excursion and the rest of my nights. Wish it was already here. I liked oasis better than smaller ships tbh because more food choices. What each of us looks for is different. Luckily.

 

Magic will always be my favorite I think .. but I have a b2b coming up on breeze.

He was our CD too!  We went oct 2019 and I didn't love him either!

Thanks everyone for your comments.  I've sailed the Dream and the Breeze so I can't wait to sail the Magic in Oct!  I really liked both of those ships and we sail the Dream again in Jan!!

Reading this thread and wondering if I should book Magic. It’s MUCH cheaper than my other options but it’s also only 6 days.

 

 I have cruised on an Oasis class ship and still went back to Carnival but I’m slightly worried that my family won’t appreciate Magic now. I’m just not sure 1 day and a change of ship is worth $600 more per person.

What if the option for your family is Magic or no cruise? I bet they would enjoy it just fine.  What if cruises (and vacations in general) were not in competition with one another? What if each were based on its own merit and not expected to be a carbon copy of prior perfect vacation number 17? 

 

Anyway Cherries it's up to you. If you won't enjoy it, it's not worth any cost savings.  For us, I'd like to try a Dream class ship (we also loved Oasis class), since the largest we have done with Carnival is Destiny (now Sunshine) class, and while we are doing Mardi Gras here coming up, Dream class seems like a good mix of the best of the older Carnival designs with a decent ship size, overall guest flow and crowd management, and newer ship conditions.  Just my own 2 cents and probably not worth that much. 🙂

We were on her in May of 19 can't find a bad thing to say enjoyed everything about her. We will be on her again here in a few weeks Aug 12 she is currentley in Miami so deffentley not still in drydock will report back how she is sence the drydock

New non smoking casino in place of the conference rooms. I understand the regular casino (located on another deck) will still be "non smoking areas" but smoking is allowed.

Does any know if Carnival is sailing with full ships or is it reduced passenger's like Celebrity has been doing ?

We know very little.  But from what scraps of info that has been presented or heard, "we" think the ships are sailing at about 75% capacity (double occupancy) or 65% total max capacity.

 

But it is early days - that could change (i.e. increase) over time as they become more comfortable with the execution of the health & safety protocols etc - e.g. Mardi Gras being re-opened for bookings.
