If Amber Cove is owned by CCL, do they honor the cheers package?

Well, to start, Amber Cove isn’t a private island — it’s just a port area/cruise center, similar to Grand Turk. The restaurants and bars may not be owned or operated by the cruise line and a franchisee might just be paying a fee to the cruise line for its location. Some cruise lines allow their drink package to be used at their private ports, but many do not. For example, Princess will not allow you to use some packages when visiting Princess Cays but Royal Caribbean will allow those similar packages to be used at Coco Cay.

While Carnival Corp owns the port, it is a standard port of call. Not a private island.

Amber Cove  is beautiful and so easy.  Just walk down the pier and enjoy.

The drink package does not work ashore anywhere, not even in HMC which is Carnival's island.  Carnival provides the food for lunch there free, but you must buy drinks and pay $.

Someone (pre-Covid) had done an estimate that it took at least 8-9 non-beer drinks to “get your money back” on buying Cheers.  Obviously if you spend significant time off the ship in your ports, it makes it even harder to break even.

 

I’m not really a drinker but I can’t imagine just prepaying Cheers just to avoid surprises.  But to each their own.

Agreed for sure, especially for light weights like my husband and I!  We have cruised over 40 times and this year will be our first time ever having the Cheers package, and ONLY because we got it so cheap on 3 of our cruises (like $150-$200 total for BOTH of us).  When you figure the Bottomless Bubbles my husband gets (which he usually makes GOOD use of that)  is like $80 it was a no brainer for us.  We can certainly get our monies worth out of it.  I could NEVER drink $700-$800 worth (normal price)

There have been cruisefares and several threads discussing fares that include cheers, both casino and non casino. Something carnival is trying out. For what I'm paying it's worth it even for a not big drinker. 

 

Cant assume any more people are paying full price for cheers. I wouldnt pay full price either but the offer I had wish i could have booked even more like it.

I think it depends on your drinking habits. I've found Cheers to be a very good value but I prefer more premium drinks. A frozen drink or two on the pool deck in the afternoon, a pre dinner drink at the Alchemy Bar, 2 glasses of wine with dinner, 2 martini's at the piano bar, and Cheers becomes a good value. Or maybe I'm a heavy drinker..... 

If you want a 6 pack in a bucket, or just a simple rum punch every few hours then it probably isn't cost effective.

For us, I love the Tiramisu and on a 7 day cruise MIGHT have 7 normally, then always have to have one milkshake.  My husband usually same, maybe 7 drinks in 7 days.  So for us, just not normally worth it.

 

I did encourage my brother and sister in law to get it for our family cruise in October (their first cruise).   THEY will most certainly take advantage of it!  They are younger and drink way more, I have seen them put away 7 or 8 drinks in just a couple hours of playing cards lol!  I told them for a week, with their personal drinking habits, the Cheers package was the way to go (plus my brother loves his energy drinks and she loves her coffee).  

 

Totally worth it if you can drink enough for sure, just never been one to be able to do that.  One or two and I am feeling no pain, 3 or 4 and I am drunk, more than that and  I would be asleep on the floor.

 

My husband says he knows I am in trouble when I tell him I can't feel my teeth lol!  Starts with I can't feel my face, then it is I can't speak right, then it is I can't fell my teeth... then I am out cold.

Probably need to check your math.  Premium "non-beer" drinks are between $10-$11 each.  Drink 8 of those a day and you will break $100 with gratuity.

That was quoting someone else posting pre-covid & not “my math”.  If it helps you sleep night you are probably right depending on what drink is selected.

Harvest Caye in Belize is run by NCL and their drink package is not good there. Not sure about Great Stirrup Cay, will be there for the first time on the NCL Prima in November of 2022.

Hate to bust your secondhand theory, but it's way off.  Cheers costs just under 60 per day with gratuities.   Non beer drinks with tip run at least 12.00, so 5 per day would make you break even.  And the unlimited nonalcoholic stuff would put you ahead. And if you are in port till 400 pm, that still gives you 7 hours if you crash early at 1100 to make your monies worth.  You're  a teetotaler, so it really doesn't  matter.  The bottom line is you will come out ahead even if you only drink 1 alcoholic drink per hour on a port day and 1 every 90 minutes on a sea day, easily doable for many.

Be thankful that you got the offer and you're able to use it on two upcoming cruises.  The algorithm ignored Platinum cruisers like myself that have had it on all 4 of our Carnival  cruises since our 2013 Breeze cruise.  That's why the package deals that include the alcohol on Celebrity, Princess,  NCL and MSC have been appealing.

On the other hand I'd have liked to get one of those 200 pp offers and this was the first and only offer I've ever gotten in over 15 years with carnival. Celebrity you pay tips for 2 people, no thanks. I do get free daily drink vouchers with rcl which is just right.

 

I'm very glad I got cheers but a low price offer which a whole lot got would have been awesome. Sorry you are still mad about not getting it. Tbh I emailed them at least 6 times asking for the cheers offer before I got it too,  I've wondered if that had anything to do with it.

I thought a can of sode with a tip ran about $5. 

 

6.95 sounds very low for mixed drinks. I had one of those vouchers and the only drink that was less than 12.00 was a screwdriver or a mimosa when I directly asked the bartender what drinks I could get for 12.00. .. two. 

 

I read green leaf bottled tea was included, not sure where that lands on your list, but I plan on asking for the bottled tea. 

 

Is that a up to date list? Idk .. seems low. Sorry I'm not up on my prices. I'm pretty sure I paid at least 12.00 for a virgin pina cola. More than I expected, but maybe they cost more in the theater. 

 

Idk ... I never bothered with the math. Just asking. Dont be offended. 

 

I've said I'm not a drinker, so admit I dont know. Just seems like I've paid more than those prices. Especially a can of soda.

No offense taken & the prices I copied were from a Google search.  Obviously drinking the same amount of tap beers costs less than top shelf mixed drinks.

 

I can’t believe something as innocuous as quoting someone’s post off of memory can bring out idiot responses where they take it as my scientific proof that they are getting ripped off.  So done with the responses to this thread.
