Colorado Babe Posted July 29, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2021 It appears that Pinnacle's are receiving the invites. I have received invites to go on Test Cruises for Allure, Ovation and Independence. I declined as we have two cruises in September and do not wish to be apart of a test cruise. We will wait until RC has all the proper protocol's in place before getting on a cruise ship.

Rare orville99 Posted July 29, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2021 Who really knows. For the ones that have been done so far, Freedom used mostly (if not all) RCL shoreside staff, and Allure used a mix of staff, TA's, and Pinnacles. Going forward it all depends on how many test cruises remain to be done, how many Pinnacles are still left uninvited, and where the test cruise home ports. I would imagine they will go down the points list as needed to fill the required cohort of "volunteers".

Specific points did not seem to matter as there were highest count Pinnacles and, also, much lower counts, And, even though we sailed on Allure Test, we were again invited to the Independence's test sail. cruisegirl1 Posted July 30, 2021 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2021 I would say, most current invitations went to those with at least 700 points. Then there are travel agents, bloggers and RCCL Employees. We received invitations for three sailings, allure, ovation and independence. Sadly, we couldn’t make it work for any of the 3. m

For Royal a Pinnacle with 750 points that is Signature or Masters in the casino is better for the bottom dollar than a Pinnacle with 1500 points and not even Prime in the casino. I’m guessing any Pinnacle with over 3000 points also got invited if they weren’t already cruising on the Adventure or Freedom. Just guessing. Just the Prime crowd drinking for free. The only real action I saw at the tables was Royal employees playing single deck BJ.

tserface Posted August 2, 2021 #22 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I think they are mostly picking Pinnacles, travel agents, and social media influencers. It makes sense because they will get the best kind of feedback, and media reporting, from these types. On some of the cruises I've noticed they selected travel agents that have never cruised before. Maybe this is to get them excited about cruising. I'm sure there is a marketing undertone mixed in with the desire to see how the cruise protocols work in practice. Avid cruises, like Pinnacles are going to be a mix of patience and forthrightness when things don't go as they expect. Travel agents, hopefully, will sell a bunch of cruises, and media influencers will try to inform all of their followers. I don't think they are doing the invites to reward anyone.
libbismom Posted August 2, 2021 #23 Share Posted August 2, 2021 (edited) They said it would be a lottery style draw. But that C&A status impacted the number of entries you received. So each Pinnacle who applied had a greater chance of being invited than someone in the lower tiers. Royal already had over 300k applicants before that final announcement in July that people could still apply. Most people won’t get chosen, just based on how many volunteer slots are available after also selecting employees and travel partners. libbismom Posted August 2, 2021 #24 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Here is the post where it said the selections would be random, but you get more entries based on C&A status.
tampabrat22 Posted August 10, 2021 #25 Share Posted August 10, 2021 (edited) I'm here searching for info about Mariner because I was invited to the test cruise on Aug 11th.
