Would you avoid 9/11/21 just because of the date?

Yeah, because it's the same thing...

The point being they were both disastrous days that greatly affected the United States and many other countries, neither of which need cause people alarm when traveling on those specific dates.

Don't know about OP's rationale; but, DW and I would NOT avoid Sept 11th if our future travel plans happened to call for doing so.  We lost friends on that sad day, which I called out as we're driving into (still) Lower East Side of Manhattan while listening to the radio ... believed initially to be a small plane that hit the North Tower.  Until, just a little after 9 am when I called that our Pearl Harbor II as it was quite obviously that it wasn't accidental.  We managed to get off the island later, got onto the subway and made our way home indirectly - by then, the wind had carried some of the smoke & burning odor some 15 miles NW toward our direction.

We sailed one year out of NYC on Sept 11th and there was a special memorial onboard our ship (NCL) but that wasn't the one where USCG uniformed personnel with sidearms boarded and escorted the cruise ship until we're passed the VZ Bridge ... and a fast patrol boat were behind us, visually armed with .50 cal on the bow.  This year marked the 20th anniversary of that terror attack against ...

There were / are - other sad and just as tragic events, natural and otherwise, that resulted in huge lost of lives, at home and abroad.  To each her/his own, on how one wish to memorize and remember it ... there is no "wrong" answer nor "right" or "correct" ones.

It was just a thought.  Excuse me for breathing.  Any other ideas why the 9/11 sailing wouldn't be booking up like sailings before and after?  The 9/4 is a has a USholiday but the 9/18 doesn't.

And obviously it won't be empty if I'm on it.  😛

Just received another one of those Important Information for  ENCORE, 11-SEP-2021 emails but it was just another about entertainment being cancelled.  There will, however, be plenty of seating available on your cruise.

That email went out to everyone sailing through November. It was not specific to your cruise. NCL is going to see how things go with the first cruises and re-installing the shows.

Back to question:  Would you not travel/sail on 9/11 because of the significance of the date?

I would not avoid the date.  It seems rather silly to even think about doing so.

I see the question has really touched a nerve.  I was simply wondering why the 9/11 Encore sailing might appear to not be selling as well as the 9/4 and 9/18, with the amount of cabins still unassigned and no real price drops, and the date stood out.  I will be flying and sailing that day so obviously I'm not avoiding it either.  It might feel weird on my AA flight that morning.  I'm sure it will be on the minds of the flight crew.

I don't think it touched a nerve, it just seems people think it's a silly question.    It was two full decades ago.  People have long since moved on from that day.

Enjoy your cruise.

Not true. I was a 911 first responder in NYC and I will be on the 9/12 Jade cruise out of Athens. No better tribute than living life.

Bless you and you deserve a nice cruise as well.

Be safe,  I get to do Greece in 2 years on the Breakaway from Rome
