I would much rather a sea day than La Romana…I chose that port once…and once was enough. I’ve decided to sit tight…see if it changes again.

I'd rather have a sea day than do Nassau again. Seems like almost every ship out of Florida is getting stuck going there. I doubt I'll get off the ship that day if it doesn't change.

Some are getting out while I'm trying to sneak one in!😀 I miss cruising so much. If I can mask up for a week at Disney, masking up on a ship is not a big deal to me.  We were trying to wait until October 2022 but OMG watching all the vlogs (shout out to AK Adventures) I am ready to cruise NOW!!! LOL!!

OP, you are not alone. It’s very frustrating and disappointing.

For us, a Mar 2022 B2B Australia cruise… we cancelled because we can’t get visas right now.
Booked Nov 2022 Caribbean in hopes it is under control by then.
We have some extremely great offers but I’ve been hesitant to book them.
I’m so glad that I listened to that lil voice.
We’ll not book more until we see a green light, loudly and clearly.

Hello Land vacations…we’re baaack!

I would be willing to trade places with anyone who's cancelling upcoming cruises. After not being on board for over a year and a half, I don't care what it takes. I just hope that the recent news doesn't cause sailings to be shut down again.

Seems like Carnival would’ve offered free cheers packages to everyone that was already booked for the inconvenience vs loosing money. I realize a lot are just pushing their cruise down the road, but a lot of us are packing up and moving on. A $400+ cheers package only costs them a very small percentage of the actually price and giving away $100 worth of alcohol for two people would be a better business decision than missing out on $1500-$2500 in revenue.

oh well

Unless they move my itinerary more, I live with the restrictions to get out of my house and on vacation. I know this is all a first world issue.

But if I have to mask up to leave my house, I might as well be doing it on a cruise on a tropical island.

Maybe Carnival will have last minute good deals.

I'm with you. We started out with 46 going on Mardi Gras on August 7th, some dropped out all together.

We moved this cruise to next summer. Instead, my family spend a week in Ocean City, Maryland last week. We enjoyed that week at the beach and enjoyed eating out for breakfast and dinner.

I waited until the last minute to rebook, I'm glad now I did.  I hope and pray things get better.

For a lot of folks it’s the masks required where they don’t feel comfortable.  For me, it’s the almost unattainable testing within 72 hours.  I literally have to drive 25+ miles out of my way within 72 hours of boarding to get a rapid test done.  I won’t chance flying in & relying on rapid tests to be available within 24 hours of boarding.

I wouldn’t care if Carnival needed to swab me daily (even though I’m post-covid and fully vaxxed).  But don’t make me jump through hoops for the privilege of paying to sail.

This IS my last cruise before all restrictions are removed.  We had Coz taken away so I’m all for a Cancun AI circa summer 2022.

I don't think very many people would change their mind over this, especially since many people booked with free Cheers packages already.

I haven't found a cruise I couldn't get a balcony room on between now and the end of the year. And that was before these cancelations. If you want to go, sign on up!

I thought Coz was open.  Which cruise did they take that away from?  And Mexico is worse than the US right now for infections.  You will still have to take tests and probably wear masks in Cancun, if this situation continues. a neighbor is doing a Cancun AI in 2 weeks,  vaccinated.  I'm waiting to hear how their vacay went.

We had the Free Cheers package promo on our August cruise.  Even if we didn't, an offer for free cheers wouldn't have made  it more comfortable to wear masks all over the ship.  There is nothing Carnival could have offered us that would have made us not rebook as long as masks are required for vaccinated people.

I'm out too.  After 4 cancelled cruises, I decided in June to rebook our September 2021 Back-to-Back out to April 2024.  If I can't cruise and relax the way I did pre-Covid, then I really don't have much interest.  Hopefully, three years from now we will be past Covid and cruise like before.

Ok, so I am out!  Cancelled and moved all 4 cruises this year to next!  Was literally all packed and ready to go for Aug 19th, and then Carnival done went and changed the rules.  I understand why - Just CAN'T do it!  Spent 2 days and over 20 hours rearranging hotels, flights, transfers, cruises for us and family.... going to try again next year.

Thanks to ya'll these last weeks for all the info and conversations... I am exiting stage right till next year.  Just too depressing to read or have anything to do with cruising right now.

I completely get it, I'm close to the port but have still spent the last 36 hours on it, can't imagine the nightmare of having flights, hotels, and other arrangements.  Not sure the cruise lines have any idea  what they've done here.

Coz was taken away from Horizon booking in September (probably August too).  They made the Western Caribbean into an Eastern.  I was ok with that & only mentioned since Mexico is one of the most accessible places to fly internationally.

That's what we though a year ago...... But I sure hope you are correct.  Thanks to the OP for this thread.  After the last couple of days, I felt alone in my frustrations.  I've been labeled as "whiney" and have been accused of having "sensory perception issues" on these boards because I don't want to cruise in a mask. We are definitely cancelling our 9/4 cruise after MUCH thought and deliberation.  We have 3 other CCL cruises booked after that.....we'll see I guess.  I wish those who do continue to cruise right now a good time!  Ready anytime for my booster shot - or any other shot it takes to get this under control.  I want to be part of the solution - not the problem.

It's not just you.  I'm sure they are tired of me on the HAL board, I don't care.  It's been proven the cruise lines read these boards, it's the only way to express our frustrations, you can do so with CSA's but I feel they forget about you the moment they go to the next caller.

I’m frustrated because I paid extra for the “free cheers package” on top of a cruise I feel I paid more for because I choose ports over ship ! I understand the need to shuffle ports…but to lose 3 out of 4 without compensation…that’s what pisses me off ! Carnival…look at my signature …always loyal to you ! Now help me out here !

My guess is the new protocols are to prevent this - or at least try to prevent it.  And to whoever was wondering about how strictly the new protocols will be enforced, according to a current Vista passenger, they are being enforced (due to several CV cases on this week's Vista cruise, they went ahead and started the mask protocol on this cruise.  Captain also announced "no smoking for the remainder of the cruise".) Basically you're in a mask at all times inside unless you are seated AND actively eating/drinking.  Signs everywhere requiring masks.  I would expect the crew to grow weary of this very quickly - they do have other things to be doing besides being mask police.  I really feel for the crew members.

Several, as in a staggering .2% (and it's that 'high' if there are only 2500 crew/pax on board w/ the 5 reported cases)

We also bailed on out August 14th Horizon cruise today. We did it because we don’t want to be wearing masks onboard BUT even more so because John Heald posted that smoking would still be allowed in the casino (even though on the Vista they stopped it). If they allow smoking in the casino, everyone that smokes will be there…even if they don’t gamble. I can imagine the place will be filled with non-masked smokers and drinkers. I’ll pass and hope for better times for our February Madi Gras cruise. At least they have a non-smoking area of the casino.

Funny how Carnival didn’t give a number. If it’s that small they should just give the number like Celebrity did for the Edge cruise.
