Let’s put it this way…it’s 11:45am and I am finally showered and leaving the cabin for the first time today to go to MTG. I would not survive another week of the beverage package. I had maybe five drinks total during 18 months at home. Five from dinner to bedtime are killing me…but I simply want to try as many as possible. It’s all for research don’t you see?

No extra charges for cook my catch though I suspect a tip to the Dining Room Supervisor woul be appropriate.

I'm so happy for you to see that you were enjoying yourselves to the absolute fullest well on board. Keep on enjoying my friend 😉

Does anyone know if you can get ESPN on the TV's there? Wanting to watch the little league world series.

You can subscribe to ESPN and put the app on your phone, $6.99/mo.  You’ll also need the WiFi on the ship.  Hopefully, the WiFi speed will allow streaming and not keep buffering.

I have seen on some vlogger’s  videos on YouTube (my closest thing to cruise experience so far 😂), that the ship gift shops usually have big sales at the end of the week so if you plan to buy any souvenirs from there to wait til the end. Is that still the case?

Yes, it's what they've always done on all Princess Cruises in the past normally they would host it in the dining room that last day. On the Majestic they'll do it right at the shops at the end of the hall there.

Sorry, is there a trick to uploading pics so they aren’t sideways?
VIP Lounge on deck 14. You enter it using a ‘cruise card’ found in your stateroom, not the Medallion. 7CEE3079-0ADC-4EE7-8383-FC796FD24C31.thumb.jpeg.433683c62eab739561eb532514818015.jpegFB9BC09A-A21C-4F3F-81EF-568A72D07040.thumb.jpeg.1bdb7fad0418c5a0473bc6a4425ad42b.jpegD9B82FB6-7F35-41A0-A3D5-5705E7A8FEA2.thumb.jpeg.cdbc9d1e8452cebd1d00523f4def92f8.jpegDE0A3680-5D0B-4770-BD32-156145FA5E25.thumb.jpeg.4a575233a0a5925fffe199799db49af6.jpeg

Fun! Who is allowed to use it? How is the VIP status determined? LOL

I have had a bit of trouble posting on CC but it looks like it is cooperating now.

The weather however had not been on our side. It’s been mid-50’s and rainy off and on today but with a very strong wind that managed to penetrate two layers of fleece and a rain poncho.

We got up early and had our first breakfast in the buffet. We then awaited clearance to depart the ship to meet at the arranged spot for our Princess excursion which was a trip to Haines and then on to the Kroschel wildlife farm.

We went into the wind on the way there so it was a bit rough on the ferry. Got to Haines and met Jerry who drove us to the Kroschel farm. That trip was longer than usual too as they have a massive road construction project underway and only one way traffic could go at a time.

When we got there we were met by a slightly crazy but very entertaining man who lead us through the muddy trails to meet his animals. There were a fox, wolves, bear, mink, wolverine, porcupines and several others. It was a fun excursion but it rained pretty much the whole time.

Coming back was delayed a bit and we didn’t make it back to Skagway until 2. We immediately went searching for treasures and were shocked at both the empty storefronts and emptiness of the streets. Most of the stores I remembered going to in the past were still open except for two. The T-shirt factory that is nearer to the other docks was closed but I suspect it will be back next year (some others had signs to that effect). And the Alaska Shoppe that was at the far end of Broadway was closed. I bought something there every visit. The Harley store that was next to it moved into that space.

Skagway Brewing is open but empty inside.  We sat at the bar and the beer was as good as I remembered.

Tonight is Italian night and I hope that I like their take in eggplant Parmesan. It’s been my favorite appetizer on Princess ships for years but some ships make it better than others.

will try to post a few pictures of technology will cooperate.

They had massive mudslides in Haines in the spring washing out many roads and several people lost their life

We walked through some of the gift shops regularly on the Aug 1st sailing to get back and forth to rooms, dining, etc.  There were lots of 30% off signs on Saturday.  They also had a $10 sale on earlier in the week on ties, scarves, and other items.

IDK your sideways issue.  Presumably the originals are saved in the correct orientation?  I have not had this happen to me on the rare occasion I have posted an image file.

As for the VIP Lounge, I recall coming across it on REGAL and opened the door (unlocked) and looked inside.  No one was there.  Whatever time of day it was, I recall thinking why would anyone be there at that time anyway.

Packed and our luggage has been taken away - by the stewards. It’s now their responsibility to do that on top of everything else.

We had a nice dinner at Sur La Mer, a last minute gift from the casino.  It was as delicious as we remembered from our last cruise on the Majestic.

Someone asked about the sales. One of the things that got axed by Covid was the last day outlet sale. They did have a $10 sale going today outside the pricey shops but it wasn’t the same.

Will be kicked off the ship in the morning. I have to say I enjoyed my time on the ship and it was wonderful to be at sea again even with the changes. Can’t wait until the world gets back to normal again but until then we have these wonderful memories of Princess and Alaska.

This has got to be one of the saddest points in any cruise.  A 7 day cruise just isn't long enough.  And so sorry that Princess has added this task to the stewards' long list of things to do before getting ready for the next turn around day.

I thought this has always been part of their job on the last evening.

Perhaps a different shift of stewards?  I too am puzzled by this, but perhaps it is just temporary if the ship is not up to full staffing as yet?

It is for full suites only. We had access on our last cruise on the Majestic. Very nice!

The VIP lounge on the Majestic on the 14th floor aft is the Concierge Lounge on Royal Princess. It is primarily for ‘suite’ guests, but other ‘vip’ are also extended invitations.

I was granted access on the Royal when I celebrated a ‘milestone’ cruise. Have not heard if ‘milestones’ will continue to be recognized. For those who are not familiar with this term, Princess recognized Passengers reaching their 500th day at sea and then every 250 days increment. Originally milestones were based on cruise credits starting at your 50th credit then every 25 after. I think this program started when Princess celebrated 50 years of sailing and then was revised to number of days instead of cruise credits.

I believe the Casino can also extend invites to the lounge to selected ‘VIPS’.

Yes, it is all for research and I appreciate you taking one for the team.  Now which drinks should I try??? 😂
