Moving 2022 Cruise with OBC from 2020 Cancelled Cruise

When my December 2020 cruise was cancelled, I booked a new cruise for February of 2022 with the FCC and OBC.  Would Carnival allow me to move this cruise out another year and still have the OBC?  Has anyone tried this?  I would really like to wait a bit longer before we cruise again.

I was scheduled to sail on Mardi Gras on 10/31/2020, Carnival cancelled the Cruise stating the ship builder was behind and the ship will not be ready by 10/31/2020. We all was given 25% FCC and $100 OBC. We moved to Mardi Gras sailing on August 7th, 2021.  With all of the back and forth with the CDC and the Governor of Florida, we were given the opportunity to cancel and rebook without penalty.  We did, now going in 2022. The FCC and OBC went with us.  The Price went up a bit.  Several of us had massages booked, cabin decorations, soda package and water.  All that was cancelled and refunded to us. Of course the massages are a little more now.  My niece was with us and decided to move to a Christmas cruise. Her FCC and OBC went with her.   Hope this helps.

Fingers crossed here that we can move this cruise despite the fact that it would actually fall on our 25th anniversary.  If we do get to move it, I will have to figure out some other big way to celebrate 25 amazing years with the love of my life.

I had a cruise booked for August 21st.  I called Carnival and got it moved to April 2022 and was able to keep my $600 OBC.

What about moving it back from a 2023 cruise to a cruise a couple of months from now.  Our cruise was canceled early 2021 and we moved deposit $ and OBC to 2023 to be safe.  Now we are booked in late Oct. and want to use it now instead of waiting.  Can we do that?  Any downside if this cruise gets canceled too?

I’m in the process of doing the same thing.

Our original Mardi Gras TA from Copenhagen was cancelled, due to not completed in time….we moved that cruise (with the bonus 25% FCC) to a new one, leaving this December…I’m going to move it again to 2023. Our carnival PVP said that all 2021 client cancellations / transfers are very reasonable with the company this year.

She said don’t CANCEL, but to TRANSFER your current booking to a new (must be new sailing…can’t go toward a cruise already booked) sailing of your choice….no penalties.

Call your TA, you will have no issues.

They won't let you move the 2023 OBC to your currently booked Oct 2021 sailing.  But, you could make it a B2B and apply it to the other half since that would be a new booking.

Glad to hear that.  Thank you!

It is so good to be part of Cruise Critic to find out if something is even possible before getting on the phone with the cruise line.  Before I do that, I need to figure out what cruise to take.

Please post and let us know if it all works out for you. They were very flexible during the shutdown and trying to retain bookings. The casino desk was great, 1 call and they got us rebooked from Oct. 2021 to July 2022 for a B2B.

My Sunrise December 2021 was cancelled last summer and I rebooked for February 2022 (all this stuff will definitely be over by then for sure, right? 😒), and got $600 OBC......then, in March or so of this year I decided to move it out again to January 2023.  I did specifically ask if the $600 would transfer to the new cruise and I said that "I heard Carnival was doing this for other passengers".  The nice PVP accommodated my request.  Now lets hope January 2023 NOLA is a go!

I've had to move my cruise four times.  As long as some of what you are moving is above whatever FCC you may have used, you will have the option of getting the overpayment as an OBC or a refund.  One time I chose a refund it it only took about a week to get the money.
