The lobster place is actually a burger and lobster place.  I don't think I saw any lobster rolls purchased, but I saw plenty of people leaving with burgers.  Someone else can hopefully help with pizza.

Thank you very much.

Hmmm  Am I reading this CDC page correctly?  It is reporting, as of today, August 16th, that the Majestic Princess has Covid onboard and is in yellow status.

https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/cruise-ship-color-status.html

  • Yellow status means the ship has met the threshold for CDC investigation, which includes one of the following criteria:
    • at or above the investigation threshold for crew COVID-19 cases,
    • at or above the investigation threshold for passenger COVID-19 cases; or
    • state or local health department notified CDC of passenger COVID-19 cases occurring within 5 days of disembarkation.

CDC acknowledges that it is not possible for cruising to be a zero-risk activity for spread of COVID-19. Cruising will always pose some risk of COVID-19 transmission. Therefore, public health measures, including testing and vaccinations, will continue to play a role. CDC recommends that all travelers (passengers and crew) get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

I don't think I would panic but I might be a bit more attentive to mask wearing.  As the CDC says, cruising will always pose some risk.

Cre8tiv1, I’m sorry you were stymied in your attempt to do exactly what we just did. I know exactly how frustrating that is (ie DH gets service on his cell phone in some remote location and starts wildly interneting, and I get nothing on my phone, for no plausible reason, and stand there watching him).

We really didn’t know what the previously stated rules were, but had heard on board that B2Bs were starting to be allowed. When travel plans I had for next week changed, DH decided to talk with the Future Cruise Consultant. She told us there was one balcony cabin still available on our current deck (easier for moving between cruises). Staying in our current cabin was not even an option.

I wish you similar luck when you try again.

Just checked again today (Monday afternoon).  Surprisingly got through almost immediately (very little wait time).  But I was put on hold as agent "checked further".

No go....protocol says you MUST remain in same cabin.  I will continue to check up until sailing to see if "protocol" changes again.  Who knows, maybe it will happen to me while I am on my first cruise.

I am so glad you were able to turn your disappointment into another week to Alaska.  Thank you for your support and sympathy.

Yes, I believe you are reading it correctly.  The Majestic Princess has been either yellow or orange for multiple weeks now, so presumably they have had covid cases off and on for that period of time.  I was on the August 1st sailing, and we never heard anything about the covid cases on the ship at that time, so they keep it quiet.  We did have a medical emergency that week with a passenger airlifted off, but they announced it was not covid related (and we heard it was a heart attack).

We kept our masks on the entire time except when in the dining room or our cabin or swimming laps -- and that was before it was required.  We have also continued to keep our masks on around our area before and after the cruise.

Chrisp5 thank you for this info.. if you or anyone else on board happens to pass by the zumba I would be curious on that one.  I thought for sure they would put it outside for better air flow as we saw it once out on the basketball deck...more space and no one walking through like when they have it in the piazza

Zumba is held all the way aft on deck 7 in the Vista lounge.

Those of you who booked dining in DMW for same time each night of the full voyage should be seated at same table with same wait staff this voyage.  There was some sort of misunderstanding with new system, etc, and situation has been clarified with the ships.  At least this aspect of Traditional Dining should be working better now.

Be interested to hear if not the case.

That's good to know, that you don't have to talk to your waiter and head waiter to request to stay at your area. I mean it makes perfect sense but as we all know in the real world if it makes too much sense it's not the way things work.

I do need to say that one positive with the DMW is the staggered dinner times so now you don't get the crowds especially like with traditional dining right before the door opens. Grant you, you  might have a  slight line when you have to scan in at the door to the dining room but definitely helps with crowd control.

Nope. Sorry to inform you that it is definitely not the case for our table of 6 anyway. Also someone asked about preferred dining speed. Ignored. Also Jerry kept confirming our groups reservation and it kept losing tonight's. I can't get any reservation. Allergies ignored so far but I'm fine with fruit, cheese, and baked potato with raw veggies for lunch.(Vegetarian) Vegan selections available at IC.

Hollywood Conservatory is gorgeous!!

Per Hotel GM: Ship is sailing at 75% capacity & staff is tested on a schedule. Room stewards more often than most, wait staff the most frequently.

May I ask what set time you booked for the same time every night?

6:40 in Symphony Dining Room. All the waiters have been great but service is slow (requested fast) and there's no pre-ordering.

@Steelers36you might be interested in this. I was credited 50% of the wifi cost. Expected. But then I have an additional credit:

"Mednet Loyalty Discount 13.99"

which is 40% of my net cost and no one can explain it.

What happened to this “Live from…”? Not many posters are actually on board and reporting their experiences or answering questions. Thanks @Ombud for your reply’s.

Do you realize I typed that 6 times!! 6!! Somehow it won't let us post. 🤯.

I'll be in Juneau in a few hours and will try to answer questions.

Shows, music wonderful. Have only seen a hand full not masking up

No one is checking to see if a reservation was made. Per brass at M&G it is being used to gauge interest & can show up even if it states "sold out."

Ordered Key Lime Pie on the app and it kept canceling my order as they couldn't find me. Finally he showed up with a drink from the bar but I ordered pudding. Had a good laugh with him over that. Then I got what I ordered.

For those trading minibar:

> for coffee it was almost immediately

> for all soda, tablemate said by supper

Doors to Casino are kept closed.

Only swag for slot pull was 3 tshirts. Anne apologized for not having more but honestly I thought that was great!! Love the casino

Stores are a definite upgrade from all other Royal class ships that I've been on. No Chicos but plenty of other stuff that could easily be worn on land  (I don't wear logos)

My balcony is enormous. Its got a bump out. Really notice that the room is 12' smaller. End of bed of awfully close to the wall.

Lastly: find a cruiser isn't working for me. I have linked my booking with tablemates & PVP (who is on this voyage). It keeps trying to find my granddaughters who will be on my April 2022 voyage.

6:40am now -> off to IC

I wonder since 6:40pm is outside the times considered Early and Late TD that is why not guaranteed same table/waiters.

As for the second part, "don't look a gift horse in mouth"??  😉

I recall you ordered in advance, so $70, with $35 OBC credit.  I wonder if system thought you were paying $15/day and trying to adjust to $10, less 50%.  The extra $2.50 ($5 to $7.50 net) x 7 days isn't $14, so IDK anymore than you I guess.  Have drink on the house!!

Getting close to land so I'm getting more than:

FWIW: that's just for CC Sites. No problem with email

This is what I mean by larger than usual balcony & narrower room (E425 -- obstructed?)

20210817_071115.thumb.jpg.4b893287d709ed64ce9ef1deef6803f4.jpg

and yes, won't waste my time trying to figure out where that $14 comes from. Should drop off by the end of cruise

Is it just me and I haven't cruised since 2019 but are the cabin doors narrower on the Majestic?

I am having trouble with crew chat and companion chat, the app doesn't give me a keyboard.

OCEAN Navigators couldn't figure it out and wrote a "ticket" for the issue. I never could get DMW to work either, from day 1, pre-cruise. Navigators brushed it off and said to call the Dine Line. Thanks for the help guy, I appreciated that effort. Post cruise review is coming and I will report it there.
