LMC Posted August 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2021 When I checked in for my 10/29 cruise on the Equinox I was only given a 12:30 slot. I am sailing in a suite and I know I’m supposed to have priority boarding. I’m assuming that I can show up much earlier and go directly to the suite line. Can someone who has done this confirm for me? I’m a rule follower and don’t want to assume anything! Thank you in advance!

For now covid rules have changed a lot of things and gives the staff a lot of extra work. We can all help by sticking to the rules.

1025cruise Posted August 29, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2021 I''m not sure how Celebrity is operating, but other lines have discontinued all priority boarding for right now.
upwarduk Posted August 29, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2021 I didn’t see any evidence of queues or priority when we boarded at Southampton on 06/08/21. We were slightly early (25 minutes) for our noon boarding time ( which was the first). Our taxi drew up to the taxi rank, our luggage was loaded on to a trolley and we were told boarding had started and directed to the doorway. We showed our Express pass and we’re allocated to an agent who took scans of our documents(Passports, PCR test results & Vaccination evidence), The only slight hick up, was a couple in front of us who didn’t have passports with them, they said they had been told they didn’t need them. They were taken to one side, so we could go through. Certainly no Priority queue for Elite, which we used to go to.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 29, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2021 If you are sailing from Port Everglades you can show up as early as 11:30 and go directly to the VIP / Suites entrance regardless of check-in time. I've been reading on a couple blogs and only one when Edge first had an outbreak had a problem with suite check-in. TerryTx is currently blogging from Equinox and said the check-in was a breeze - Showed up at 11:20 and was on the ship before noon. I had a chat with the Suites Concierge for my 9/5 cruise on Friday and she confirmed the same. She said regardless of check-in time just show you are in a Suite and you will be directed to the Suites Check In area which has separate lines than the general boarding.

GeorgiaPeach was volcano red about the boarding process. Just curious...what makes someone VIP...like a wedding or something?

Just curious...what makes someone VIP...like a wedding or something? Originally the VIP was for upper suites RS and PS and they have a special concierge. They still have a desk for the upper suites and they escort you all the way through with expedited baggage delivery. I think they now use the word VIP entrance to include Zenith's and High End Casino levels who can use the Suite Check in regardless of cabin level booked. As you enter and before you get to security there are 2 lines - the left hand is for suites and people with assistance (wheelchairs etc) the right is for everyone else. Weeks ago, and it was no problem.
