In this case it is Salsa who controls things. Salsa has stated to me in writing its a full charter. You cannot book thru MSC, must go thru Salsa. That is a full charter.

These people who you know who booked the 7 day and got notified, what was the deal they were offered?

In regards to your stating no legal obligation to inform, that may be true, but in my case, it appears my Grand suite in Yacht club has been relocated to deck 8 with no reduction in fare. I have my luggage tags. (look at post 336).   There is nothing in the T&C which allows them to downgrade my sailing experience. Also in the other 2 contracts of T&C (yes there are 2 more) it also does not mention this.

Lastly, I booked this on 9/5 and had a modification on 9/17. They knew about this back in July.

I do not think the letter went out to the 7 day people. Thinking they just got new Docs when they woke up last Mon morning with their new cabin assignments.
I was only offered the refund option when I called to inquire why I had been moved from YC.

No, I never got emailed anything but new booking docs. The amended booking docs showed me downgraded with a credit for the difference between YC and regular balcony.
The new docs removed the YC experience, unlike I believe what happened with yours.

Was it a decent credit?

We have discussed my showing up at the ship.

Arriving, paying for parking and checking in at the tent and seeing how far it goes. Asking to be escorted directly to my YC room as my tickets indicate.

I would be wearing a bodycam.

Hopefully it won't be necessary to go that far.

LOL, and this is what I mean by attitude 🙂

Seriously, what is the end game here? How do you expect this to work out?

You seem like a good guy based on other posts and what others have said about you. Please reconsider and try to go into this vacation with a *vacation* mindset.

Worst case MSC puts you on their super secret no-sail list...you'll have to change your cruisecritic name then...

Don't want it to go that far.

I am holding YC tickets they sent, so I get YC experience and no reduction in price despite deck 8 now. There is a real reason why this may need to done. If they do not settle this issue before, I have 3 choices.

1.Don't show up and lose all monies

2.Cancel for a refund. Why? I have not been notified of any thing in writing,so penalties may apply.

3.Show up ready to cruise and have them address the issue on the spot,as they have shown no effort to address it prior. Its simple, can you provide what I paid for?

I am a local so no big deal. We eat lunch over there all the time, plus that same day I am dropping off friends on the Allure of the seas.

Do I actually care about the cruise,no not all.  I will go an any cruise. I have 15 booked right now.

I am on a 4 month vacation right now. I vacation 200+ days a year so I am always in vacation mindset. Being young and retired is nice.

End game, What I paid for is all I ask or how about the decency to notify me, or cancel me.

Secret list?? Well another problem because I have 5 other cruises all paid for worth over $17,000.

Yes, but it was simply the amount I had paid for YC less the cost of a regular cabin.

I got nothing extra for their screw up. I am guessing this is already costing them a fortune. A buddy of mine was a fairly famous doo wop (sp?) artist back in the early 60's. He does a couple of doo wop cruises a year (before Covid). He gets paid and also gets comped the best room, as do all the other artists.

So this was booked on a ship with no YC and then changed to the Divina. I am sure at that point, per the contract, the Salsa group demanded and got the "new" best rooms, the YC.
Also from what some others have posted the Salsa people are of the opinion that only they can book cabins on this charter cruise. So there is a chance MSC is paying penalties to the Salsa group for all of the 3,4 or 7 day people who did not cancel.

I told them call it what you want, but I will not be on the cruise unless in YC. They said that can not happen.

My easiest answer is filing a complaint with the FL AG for possible fraud. They took my money well after they knew the YC would not be available. Sounds like they just wanted to float themselves a loan.

  • 2 weeks later...

Has anyone that opted for the Cancellation with full refund that was on this 10/24/21 - 4 day cruise received a refund yet? Its been  few weeks and we have not received anything although my TA says they issued it. In addition MSC keeps sending me upgrade offers on this sailing.  What a joke.  This was supposed to be our first try at an MSC cruise, but will never do that again.  Probably the worst cruise company I have ever dealt with.

Not yet.  Last time I cancelled with them it took about 60 days or so to be refunded.

We also got another offer to upgrade to YC (which is not available) yesterday.

I got my refund today.  And the deposit for the Armonia that I canceled. So as of now MSC doesn’t owe me any money.

Good News to Report, received my full refund! Already booked RCL for same week.!  So glad this is over.

My refund processed 10/14 as well.  Glad to see that it was a reasonable time frame!
