I agree with your "Their screw up, they pay" as I am quite certain had I made the mistake I would have ended up paying severely with them.  There would be no "I understand you made a mistake...we will just cancel it and you can get off scot free". With it being less than 40 days out they would have not only hit me with the deposit penalty but the entire amount as a penalty.

That is correct! And a great point.

I actually now don't think putting me on a another ship is just OK.   I want compensation for the major inconvenience especially if its not on that week.  I have a short window of availability, and 5 additional cruises with MSC alone.

Question is what would be fair compensation for their screw up and money grab on their part?

I don't have an email either.

I got the email.  It actually went to my daughter's email (Second passenger).  Here is my favorite part.  I have to cancel for a refund today if I want that option....

So this was finalized after we booked.

I wonder for the 7 night people, will they offer us something if we decide to stay on the Salsa cruise?

What this doesn't specify is if you will have to pay a fare increase when you rebook. There's also no mention of this of us that booked as a 7 night.

I am taking it that I will have an extra fee when I rebook.

I am on hold now trying to get clarification about only having until today to make a decision on refund.  Good thing I read this email when I got it....

I think I am going refund and putting MSC behind me.  Thoughts on Celebrity?

No mention of the YC cruisers either.  Notice it only talks about interior to Balcony rooms.

Well from a contract point, they did cancel the 3 & 4 night sailings.

The 7 night people, they did not cancel our cruise, so they need to cancel us which brings the T&C into play.  I would entertain staying on Salsa cruise as we are actually Dancers. Sincet his will be a total disruption of a regular cruise, whats the offer?

I think the offer is you get to engage in all of the salsa entertainment plans.  They must have cut a deal with the salsa cruise leaders.  That sounds to me like the rest of the entertainment team gets a week off.  That will not give me a proper view of what MSC is like.  I have determined they are not staffing the call center adequately.

I too would go on it.  Not my first choice (that would be to just let me rebook at the  same price on another date)  but considering what it would cost me to change....we would "suffer" through it.  We can hide in in the YC during the day and venture out to the casino at night.  As it stands we would have our YC Deluxe  grand suite ( same room) for 2 weeks and retain our $ 928.00 on board credit (from a previously cancelled covid cruise)

Just saw your post Steve....

Not worth it to me then.  I chose YC for as they advertise, Peace and Serenity.   Not bump bump bump every night till 5am they state.

Steve

I had not factored that in.  Will have to think on it.

I only have $200 in OBC but I too have a YC GS for under $3k.    I have many questions though. Will the regular entertainment be going on? Will the lounges be all Latin? Or a mix like they have in past. I have been on this ship 3 times so I know whats what.

I have questions.... Will our Status be honored? All YC benefits and perks?

Another thought. Why did our YC reservations get moved to deck 8 cabins if we are able to stay?  I assume that if they booked the whole ship, they get all the cabins so the executives would want the better stuff.

Steve

I was wondering the same thing. I'm not cool with being in a regular balcony not in the YC.

I would not even consider it. I want the private restaurant, lounge, pool, all of it, thats what I booked and paid for.

STeve

A further thought, If they email us, that can be considered our written notice as required under the T&C.  Question is whether they will follow the T&C.

Guess what! This email was sent in error according to my call with Benjamin in customer service.  He was very shocked the phone number listed on the email leads me to him and the normal MSC phone tree.

I am told Corporate should not have sent that email out today.  They do not yet have the authority to make the refunds and they will not have the ability until 9/27.  He also said I would be receiving an email saying I have to call no later than  9/27 to get a full refund.  If you read that again you may see the flaw - the last day I can all is 9/27 but the first day they can make a refund is 9/27.  The mess continues.
