ldubs Posted September 7, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2021 Hello everyone. For the current Alaska cruises out of Seattle, is the Windjammer open for dinner? Thanks.

Thanks. Do you know the passenger capacity for your sailing. Richard Fein stated on his last interview that Windjammer dinners would come back at 50% capacity. Marilyn Johannes Posted September 8, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2021 We were on Ovation August 20th and the Windjammer was not open for dinner. We were told 2 different passenger counts 1700 and 1800. Around 35% I believe.
DrScoobz Posted September 8, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2021 Just got off the serenade of the seas, the windjammer was not open for dinner. There were about 900 passengers onboard.
Mikew0805 Posted September 8, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2021 I am ready for the Windjammer to come back. We usually eat dinner wearing shorts, and until we can go back to the Windjammer... the dining room, including "formal night..." is where we will eat in shorts and sandals. 3

Mrs Ldubs was looking at a cruise in Oct and my job was to scope out onboard options. Thank you everyone for the replies. This is very useful! Jasukkie Posted September 8, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2021 I read Ovation had over 1900 passengers last week so getting closer to that 50% mark. I'm onboard on Friday and as per everything I've read, Windjammer will still be closed for dinner. Would be a welcome surprise if it were open. Windjammer open only for breakfast and lunch but there were plenty of people wearing shorts and sandals for dinner in the dining room. 1
Ashland Posted September 9, 2021 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2021 I hope by the time I next sail in Jan 2022 the WJ will be open for dinner again.
CaroleC Posted September 10, 2021 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2021 We board Harmony on Sunday. It’s a PITA having to pack extra clothes suitable for the MDR especially as we’re flying to Barcelona so therefore have luggage weight restrictions. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s open on Anthem for our cruise on her next month.

Shorts have been and still are acceptable in the MDR including formal nights. This is not an act of defiance on your part. It is acceptable.

EdandMary Posted September 11, 2021 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2021 August 27 Ovation sailing was 1432 occupants with 300 top tier included in that number. Windjammer closed for dinner.

Your casual clothes will be fine...no need to pack clothes just for the MDR.

Too late, we flew into Barcelona this morning with our extra MDR clothes 😁. With a bit of juggling between both suitcases we managed to come in just under the weight allowance so all’s good. Had a lovely afternoon and evening in Barcelona, now looking forward to boarding Harmony tomorrow.

Do you think they would open the Windjammer if there were 1000 top tier passengers on like it made a difference?
