Back In Miami

I wanted to post to say my wife and I arrived to Miami yesterday for a short pre-cruise stay.

It's our first time in Miami since January of 2020.  We had just spent close to a week with our two sets of families at Disney World and had not heard of COVID-19. Enjoyed a few days in Miami and boarded the first half of a world cruise which we had planned to end in Sydney, Australia and we did.  About 10 days afterwards the cruise ended for everyone as most countries stopped accepting cruise ships.

The main thing which changes our visit this time around is we will eat all meals in our room as we did for two other cruises since July with COVID-19 in mind and avoid going indoors other than where we are staying.  When we stay in Miami for a pre-cruise we do look forward to having dinners outs and for those who remember we used to enjoy going to Pericone's.  This was not possible during our last two visits as they had sold the property and their new restaurant opening got delayed for along time.  They are open but we will miss them this time around and do look forward to dining their when we feel comfortable doing so.

Some photos from yesterday. It was overcast in the afternoon.

Today we board Crystal Serenity.

Yesterday went on several long walks which is a tradition of ours in Miami.

I went our first and walk over to the Port Of Miami.  Unlike when I normally do this it was very quiet there with one ship at Terminal J and another one in the main area.  The bridge and terminal felt like a ghost town.

I hadn't realized American Airlines didn't renew their naming rights for the Arena where the Heat Play.  Often when we do a six or seven day pre-cruise stay in December my wife and I would go to one to two Heat Games.

On a second walk my wife and I walked over to Biscayne Key Island and around the island to enjoy nice views of the bay and we had a nice view of the Oceania Vessel at Terminal J.

I took one other walk in the afternoon to Mary Brickell Village and Brickell Centre.

We have great memories of all our visits to Miami and have seen so many changes since our first stay in 2007.

Some photos.

Thank you for posting those pictures, we enjoyed them.

If you enjoy walking in the Miami area, may I recommend the Wynnwood area?  It is north of downtown, and (roughly) bordered by 16th street on the south, 36th on the north, Miami Avenue on the east, and I-95 on the west.

The neighborhood is characterized by bold mural paintings, art galleries, small restaurants, design firms, and various industrial buildings. Even a square block occupied by a sand and gravel firm has painted walls,  splashes of color on its various towers, etc. New residential towers exhibit similar attention grabbing features.

Miami-Dade offers a network of free bus /trolley vehicles  which leave the Adrienne Arsht arts center and circle through Little Haiti and Wynnwood. Hop on, hop off,as you wish.  Other trolley routes visit Little Havana from the Mary Brickell metromover station.

Viewing your photos of the streets around the terminals, if I had found such conditions when I was driving to the terminal to embark MSC Meraviglia, my opinion of the Port of Miami would probably be different.
