Meraviglia -- sitting "at" the bar?

I've noticed in recent pictures that it looks like the barstools have been removed or blocked off, probably due to COVID.

My husband loves sitting at the bar and chatting with the bartenders. Does anyone know if that's possible now?  We'll be on Meraviglia in 2 weeks.

The bar stools at the Edge bar are blocked off, but you can still talk to bar staff from nearby tables.

However, if you visit a V only bar such as the pub on deck 7, not only can you sit at the bar, but masks are not required inside the V only locations.

The bar seating protocols make no sense. We were told we had to share a four-top table with a couple strangers because the two-top table that was 8 feet from any other table was blocked for social distancing.

We were on Mera 9/18 and DIvinia 9/26.  It is a tale of two cities.  They both handled things VERY differently in YC and around ship, some due to Divina not being smart ship.

In YC on Mera, all stools at bar blocked off.  If you wanted to order there or by pool they kind of wanted you to stay away and if by bar  to order drink to room they wanted you to take drink to room for you or call reception.  By pool bar on Mera, no seats, Divinia seats.

Divinia the stools were all open and bartenders happy to talk in TSL.

There were other differences too that I'll get into next week when I finish up reviews.

Despite differences, I saw no problem with how they handled it.

ETA:  I thought maybe you meant YC, but if not, sorry.

No experience at sitting at any bar on Meraviglia since January, 2020, but sitting at the YC bar on that ship caused scratches on the toes of my dress black shoes because there is no place to put one's feet.  The metal facade of the bar caused that.

Sitting at other bars, no problems for having someplace to put one's feet.

When we sailed on Meraviglia a month ago, the only bar where I could sit at a stool right at a bar was at the Brass Anchor Pub on deck 7. All others were either removed or blocked off.

As of last week, the Casino Bar, and Pub were like that.  Not sure if any others were.  The YC bar was not.  I think it has to do with vaxxed partial or fully vaxxed passenger admittance.

Sky Lounge, Champagne Bar, and Bamboo all had Bar seating last week.  All of the bars at Ocean Cay had bar seating.

Champagne Bar had some good chatty bartenders.  We enjoyed it there, but most of it is for cost.

Sitting at the Sky Lounge Bar and closing it down was some of the best fun we had all week - The staff there was all amazing and great fun and happy to chat with you.

Say hi to them from Rebecca and Derek if you go. 🙂

Thanks for the update - Sailing this upcoming weekend, and plan to spend time in the Sky Lounge.  Good to know you can sit down, enjoy your drink, and chat up the bartenders.

Was the YC bar also available to sit, or just order a drink and find a seat somewhere in the TSL?

There was no seating there - but I had no problem standing there to order a drink and take it back to my table.  The service was fast enough that I didn't have to do that - I just don't sit still for long.

Loved the guys at the Champagne Bar. DW likes to sit at the bar and chat with the bartenders as do I. Most nights we left the Top Sail Lounge in the YC (bar stools blocked off) and went there, we had the Premium Plus package so most all the Champagne was included. One night we got one of those monster seafood towers. Pricey but very good quality seafood on there.

If you mean the seafood tower in the steak restaurant I can 100% agree with you...it's amazing...

We ended up spending the first part of our Friday night drinking bottomless champagne there after one of the Sky Lounge servers we befriended relayed a miscommunication we had earlier in the week to its manager.

We tried to politely decline, because we weren't complaining at all, but he wasn't having it.
