ClevelandCruisin Posted October 13, 2021 Author #253 Share Posted October 13, 2021 Tonight we have dinner at Teppanyaki. My favorite! We are seeing the 18+ comedy in the social Tonight. Should be a great night! Tomorrow we are taking the 1-way harbor cruise to Ketchikan to enjoy the day. King crab legs, shopping, watch the salmon swim in the river!

We got to know him on a Bliss Panama Canal cruise in 2019. Glad you are enjoying the Encore we did two cruises on it in late 2019 and we were scheduled to do it again on this cruise and the next one but changed our plans. But do have the Encore booked next year for two 21 night cruises so you can tell we like the Encore.
GALSews Posted October 13, 2021 #255 Share Posted October 13, 2021 ClevelandCruisin, Thanks for the post. Makes me eager to sail again. We'll be going back to Alaska next June. First an d only time was way back in 2002 when our sons were still kids. Now we'll be going with a grandchild.
ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #256 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Fun fact about Juneau.. For every bar, there has to be a church. Now they have 66 churches. 1

fastpitchdad Posted October 14, 2021 #259 Share Posted October 14, 2021 (edited) If you go to the District and the Piano guy is playing (Jacob, he is quite good), please request Modern Love by David Bowie 🙂 . Back in August he said he would learn it before the next Cruise. Edited October 14, 2021 by fastpitchdad

ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #261 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Chicken and shrimp for me tonight. My wife had scallops. Mom had steak. The rice is always a hit, this is the only place that makes it like they do. The service was good, except they forgot my chicken at first. I guess they call that a Japanese mistake. ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #262 Share Posted October 14, 2021 So my wife has won at least $150 or more each day on the slots. Me on the other hand, a little here, but mostly donating. Today I put $40 on roulette, first time I could get to the table. Spins a 0... I was done. That's the kiss of death for me.
ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #263 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Another gripe I have about the casino is they are all video style machines, no old school reels. You can find a few machines with reels, but that's it. Also, these new Asian machines max bet is $8.80! I'm not rich here! Talk about taking your money quick. They do have a nice room enclosed for smokers, which is a nice change from other ships. And they put all the winners in there! 3
ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #264 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Loving the cruise so far, but missing the warm weather. Also, I've been dealing with a flare-up from my crohn's disease most of the week. Fighting through the pain... barely.

ClevelandCruisin Posted October 14, 2021 Author #269 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Just an FYI when booking rooms, we're on deck 15 (aft), which is a spa room. Every evening and morning you will hear these squeaky wheels coming from the waterfront. It's like nails on a chalkboard! They wake me up every day bright and early... ugh! Oh the humanity!!!

caneable Posted October 14, 2021 #272 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Great review and thanks for taking the time to share. Our only big NCL ship experience to date was the Epic some while ago. In recent times the itineraries have had us on the smaller ships. However, next year we’re booked in for Norwegian Encore around this time of year so your posts are right on the nail!
caneable Posted October 14, 2021 #273 Share Posted October 14, 2021 Just one request. I note that you don’t seem to have visited Onda as yet. We came across it on the Spirit and really enjoyed it. Big improvement on La Cucina, although that wasn’t difficult. LC was an insult to Italian cuisine as far as we were concerned. If you do get there we’d be grateful for a peek at the menu. Cheers!
