Outside lounging areas

We will be on Riviera in February. Any advice on a quiet outside area in the shade for lounging with a good book. Traveling in Concierage class.

The Spa Terrace at the forward end of deck 14 would be my #1 recommendation.

The Sanctuary

Access limited. Try the Sanctuary - open to anyone (and few folks know it exists).

She said she's in concierge, so will have access.

The Sanctuary or the Patio on deck 14

The Spa terrace  really does not have any shade

 

sometimes you can get a lounger under the  track  on the pool deck

We love the Sanctuary .... great place to read, relax or snooze.

One more spot is the area outside of La Reserve. Downside to that is it is probably the busiest of the places mentioned.

The lounge chairs have pull-over shades, don't they? I guess it's a question of how much shade you want.

Always the promenade deck on Deck 5 or 6, I forget. Always quiet, and typically always shade. Since you’re closer to the water, it has more of a sailing feeling than the upper common areas.

Are you thinking of the R ships ? 

Deck 5 has  the loungers  but on Riviera  I do not believe have outdoor spaces on those decks

Unless I’m having a senior moment, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on an O ship.

Thanks so much for the photos,, Lyn.I never have been to the Spa Terrace so I had no idea those loungers were present.

 

As a very fair freckled strawberry-blonde (at least in my younger years), I always am seeking out the shady spots onboard outdoors. I have enjoyed many quiet hours at the Sanctuary.

I also seek out the shady areas now 

I am good for  30 mins max in the full sun

Just one point about the Patio on deck 14. This is more or less above the smoking area, so, if you are bothered by smoke this would not be the place for you.
