Live from the Sky Princess 11/20–12/4

Today was day 1 of week 2 on the Sky Princess. There are 700 fewer passengers on the ship this week compared to last week and it feels less crowded. We have 1701 onboard so we are sailing at 46% capacity. A few additional photos from today including a stunning sunset. Entertainer tonight was Darren Dowler, a rock singer and impersonator, who put on an entertaining show. Hoping he does another show this week.

We'll be heading through the center of your city southbound to SW FL for the Winter in about a month.

We mostly used 1 but jumped over to A1A in plenty of time to see the port.   If you are coming through Charlotte consider using the 485 Outer Loop to avoid 77 in town.

46% capacity, well, these are exactly the number we were told about last year, unfortunatly we wont see overpopulated cruises any time soon. From some point its kinda said as many people bring live on board, from another, there wanted be crowds of people swimming in the pool or eating in the cafes

Using 1 and A1A was a good idea and did help.  But it was Black Friday so traffic was naturally heavy. We hopped off 95 at Boynton Beach.  Going home we're going to use 1 and see if taking it to Jupiter gets us past the maniacs.

I boarded yesterday as well. Smooth process other than waiting for the in transit to get back on board. Went to guest services and asked for an upgrade, they said they would know later that night. Checked back after dinner and was able to upgrade to a Balcony directly across from my room for $25 PP/per night. To me it was worth it, so I did that. Since I hadn’t unpacked except for the hanging clothes that was easy. Here a shot of todays sunrise.

If someone happens to walk through the casino, could you look at how many 0's are on the roulette table?

Still working out a few kinks. Our dine my way reservation got changed. Our cabin AC is not working. Got charged for a coffee card I did not order. My casino credits did not show up. All fixed or in process so hopefully we can settle in now.

We got charged for drinks at princess cays even though we have princess plus. Got sorted easily.

 

Passing north of Cuba at the moment....an excellent view from the sanctuary....our first time ever in it and it won't be the last.

Received additional information on the timing of our covid test tomorrow and when we will be walked off the ship to go through customs. We are planning to come right back onboard and not go out into FL tomorrow. 

 

After lunch in the MDR spent the day chilling at the pool. It’s been windy and overcast today and the water was a little cold so I just put the feet in and enjoyed a Malibu Sunrise at the edge of the pool. 

 

Farewell dinner in the MDR but luckily we don’t have to say goodbye to table 471 in the Cielo. Show tonight was Mike Mentz who put on another great performance.

 

Have to get up early tomorrow for the Covid test and hoping our party of 4 are all negative. Fingers crossed for all of us.🤞 

 

Wishing safe travels to everyone joining the ship tomorrow. She is beautiful!

Thanks again to KLM and all those who have posted such great pictures as well as answering questions and giving general info.  Looking forward to more from those of you staying on board this week, especially since your itinerary this week is the same as our cruise on the Sky (Dec. 11th).

I too love to watch the Boobies soar beside the ship looking for food.  I usually see flying fish skimming the surface where they are hunting.  I think they are one of their primary food sources.

Speaking of the Casino....how do the slots work with the Medallion to get credits/points as you play.  Does it just automatically keep track?  It will seem funny not to stick my card in the slot!

It's keeping track of our points though I have no clue how to cash them and for what.  You'll scan your medallion and it tracks you that way.  Initially it will ask you to set up a pin.  Working pretty good - especially at taking our $$.  😄  The smoking section is most of the starboard wall.  Unfortunately, the only slots we like on this trip are smack in the middle of the wall.

The story of my life....seems like my favorite machines are always in the smoking section.  Does wearing the mask help with the smoke?
After you win on the slots (you will) can't you just cash out and collect your money at the end of the day?

Happy to hear you were able to upgrade to a balcony cabin and thanks for catching the sunrise. I didn’t make it up in time for the sunrise this morning. The gentle motion of the ship really makes me sleep well and longer onboard.

I accidentally walked through the casino once last week and my mask didn’t help with the smoke. I try to avoid the casino as I can’t handle the smoke because of allergies.

 An you please tell me if they have Mah Jong games available in the library and if books are there?   COVID is affecting some of those past conveniences.

Minisuites receive a welcome glass of champagne for sailaway.   Its a minisuite perk.   

 

Sometimes if the Stewards have extra, or folks decline, they'll give the bottle to whomever takes it.

The what they call  "champagne" they give mini suites is really AWFUL!  😝

Do yourself a favor and tell your steward "No Thanks".

Thanks, but we have always hit it in non-rush hour and the GPS mapping indicates just take it down the middle.

They must have re-arranged the Casino when building SKY.  Previous ships had the poker table and other gaming tables on starboard side and all slots on port.
