Cancellation refund timing?

Our March 6 Hawaii cruise was cancelled last week, two days after I made our final payment. We chose the refund option rather than the very limited move to another cruise option (nothing was appealing or worth what we had paid), and passed on the FCC option (no guarantee the perks we had would be included, plus I have my doubts about the long term sustainability of CCL if this stuff continues much longer).

For those of you who have had cruises cancelled by Princess, how long did it take to receive your money back?
Personally, I feel like we've been played.

My last cancellation took about a month to get my EZAir back.  I let another week go by and still hadn't received my cruise fare back.  I called and found that had put the money on a cruise that was already paid for.  Hmmm.  Give them 3-4 weeks and then give them a call.

I cancelled and re-booked a cruise on 18 Nov to take advantage of a fare reduction.  We had put $800 down,m and when it was rebooked they refunded the initial $800 and then put $800 on the new booking.  No refund so far.  I contacted my TA a week ago and she said they were slow...  Tonight I get on a chat with Princess and after going round and round she said they did not have the manpower to process all the refunds in a timely manner and really couldn't tell me anything but that it was processed on 18 Nov and "may take a couple extra days to reach our account."  I said it had already been 13 days - to which she thanked me for my input because it was important for them going forward....

Yup same here! Our CA Coastal was cancelled ONE day after final payment. 😡 We’re waiting for credit to be applied to another cruise later in the year. Was told “it’s still being processed.” I hate to give up on Princess as we enjoy the line.  Uncertain times for sure.

How long is it taking these days to get refunds for cruises cancelled by the passenger?  I cancelled an October 2022 cruise on February 11th and was told that I would be getting the refund in a few days.  Nothing yet.  This was a casino cruise and the amount I am owed included the upcharge to a mini suite (from free inside cabin), port fees, and insurance.  Not sure if they handle these differently but I really did think that they were a bit speedier now that the cruise of pause refunds is pretty much over.

I booked a casino cruise and paid extra for the Princess Plus package.  $800 total charge.  I called on the 21st to have that package removed from my cruise and I had the refund on my charge card within 3 days.  I went through the casino department.

Thank you. I also cancelled through the casino department. Guess I am going to need to call them.

My TA cancelled my original cruise and then rebooked it in order to get me a better rate with a Princess sale.  Funds from my cancelled cruise were immediately transferred to my new booking.  Incidentals such as excursions and water package were refunded back to my credit card within 3 days --- I was in shock that the refund was so quick.

I just called the casino reservation line. Waited an hour on hold for a representative. I was told that our refund was in queue with the revenue area and that once processed it would take 10 -15 business days for it to appear on our credit card. I mentioned that I was told on February 11th that the $5K would be refunded to my credit card in a few days and the response was that they have a high volume of refunds that they are processing now. After all of the practice they have had processing refunds it should be easy and quick by now but I can’t help but think that the slow walking of refunds is deliberate.

They told me 60-90 days!!  Yikes

That was the norm during the pause but it makes no sense now, especially for cancellations initiated by the passenger. Not much we can do I guess.

Right.  Today they told me I would get the funds put back on my Gift Cards in 10-15 business days.  Today it is 16 business days.  No funds on my gift cards.
I think they just make it up as they go along.

I'm so sorry to hear all this.  This is the one thing that Princess has done that really turns me off about the company.  Taking final payments when they know they're going to cancel and then the long delay in refunds.  If I thought it was accidental (and in some cases I'm sure it is), it be just a mere disappointment, but it can certainly be very upsetting the way they handle it.  And the sad thing is, they don't really gain anything by doing this that I can see unless they intend not to do a refund which I don't believe to be the case.

It's one of the things that bug me about Princess shoreside - slow refunds, long wait times to reach a representative and then have them not know the answer, release of the Medallion app before it was ready, etc.  It's as if they have no consideration for their customers and don't care if they are wasting their time.

I have no doubt that we will get the $$ back but as I mentioned above, it does seem like they are deliberately slowing the release of refunds again.  I know they are still losing money and feel bad for them but If it weren't for the wonderful experience on the ships, I wouldn't put up with this.

Has anyone failed to get FCC applied before a subsequent cruise?

We paid for a Feb 19 cruise for DD and DGD to accompany us. Cancelled it and rebooked to April 2. Any FCC applied to April 2 cruise will result in a refund, since we paid for that separately. If FCC is not applied to April cruise, I would hope it still result in a refund and not FCC. DD will not be able to use FCC.
