Does NCL move you to a different cabin if quarantined for covid exposure?

The story I linked was NCL Gem.   What I found interesting is that yes there are protocols they had to follow, but why "fresh fruits" turned to "prunes"?   Is it because NCL knew they will be refunded so they are no longer paying customers so feed them whatever?

That's fine.  Then HAL should also post specific protocols.  Just because a few cruise lines are morons, shouldn't mean they all have to be morons.

How do they know you've been in contact with someone who may have Covid?  Good question.  For dining, they know which table they placed you at what time.  But theaters, bars, lounges, they don't know.

 

We were recently on Getaway.  We ate at Shanghai noodles a couple of times. This is where you're on high chairs, in bar style and can be directly facing each other.  In the beginning they seated people to have some distancing.  That is, my wife and I can be together side-by-side.  The don't seat people directly opposite us to be face to face.  They do seat the next group facing the empty chair next to me, so we are diagonal.

 

But after we left Europe and into international waters, half way into our meal they began to seat people just next to us (my wife and I opposite each other).  That day they also started to allow people to smoke in the casino, so there is cigarette smoke.  We quickly finished our meal to leave.

 

In other dining rooms, my wife and I wouldn't be close to other people.  But Shanghai noodle is one place we wouldn't go back to.

I wonder if anything will change when the CSO transitions after Jan 15.  These protocols were probably designed to meet the CSO requirements, so what happens when they become voluntary?

I wouldn't make any connection between the fact that they were out of fresh fruit cups and Covid isolation.  NCL is quarantining people to keep their guests safe. This is not an NCL plot to punish people and make them eat prunes. 😂

If I tested positive, I would have no problem isolating.

 

if I, as a triple-vaxxed person, just happened to be near someone who tested positive, and I wasn’t sick or testing positive myself, being stuck in my cabin would be a much tougher pill to swallow.

In that case, the cruise line would be taking a non-infected person and forcing them to stay with an infected person. Even if it were you spouse.

 

If you get sick at home, you try not to infect the whole family by isolating yourself from them.

NCL needs COVID positive passengers near the medical team so that they can be checked and evaluated. COVID is not always asymptomatic or a mild cold. Many COVID patients in hospitals today are vaccinated and sick enough to be in the hospital. And, sadly, there are cases like the Carnival passenger, fully vaccinated, who died of COVID after being evac'ed from the ship to the US (via a hospital in Belize).

I as triple vaxxed also, would be fine isolating, as long as I could stay in my balcony cabin. I would go crazy in an inside cabin all alone with claustrophobia.

Oh, I totally understand that. But just being exposed and moved seems excessive.

I don't think this is correct. I believe close contact quarantining is happening across all lines sailing in the Caribbean right now too.

Me, too. I’m claustrophobic, and an inside cabin is my idea of Hell. No offense to those who like to sail in them. I’d love to take advantage of the good deals. I just can’t. Would love more clarity from NCL about what quarantining looks like, because the possibility of moving from Haven to inside would be a dealbreaker for me.

Doubt if anyone has actual experience about being put in "quarantine" but woud really appreciate hearing a first hand experience.  If no symtoms, did you have to be put in another room if so, what  type?  were you allowed to order in alcoholic bevarages to pass the time?? (really, that would be a big one, ha)  not trying to joke about Covid, but some extremes are putting me over the line to cancel, dont have fear of being infected, if we did, think we would survivie without medical interevention??

My significant other went into isolation halfway through for testing positive.  My daughter and I tested negative, but they still moved us into quarantine.  My significant other was moved.  They offered to move my daughter and I to the cabin next door, and strongly pressured us into moving.  It was a balcony, but since I was in a club balcony, this represented a downgrade.  We were not allowed to order alcohol, and were explicitly told we would have to pay for any drinks, despite having the premium plus package.  We were able to access room service for free (although with the caveat that literally every single time, I had to call and have the charge removed) but the food got monotonous quickly.  We were not allowed to order from the main dining room menus or anything good like that, so we basically subsisted on pizza and beggings for as much diet pepsi as they'd be willing to send.  In case anybody is curious, the max they'll send is apparently four glasses of diet pepsi.

 

They also are, at least so far, not providing any type of refund for on-board amenities that we purchased but could not access.  They did move us from the 4-meal to the 2-meal, but have not refunded the lost excursions, the unusable half of the premium plus package, or the downgraded cabin.  They also told us we could watch any pay-per-view movie for free, and ended up charging us $50 for them which, as of yet, we have not received a refund for (especially galling because the pay-per-view movies WEREN'T EVEN GOOD).

We have until 4pm Friday to cancel our Sunday hotel reservation ($225).... We are triple vaxxed and packed for our Monday cruise.  Right now my biggest concern is the quarantine.  If my husband had to quarantine in an inside cabin or even an ocean view, there would be a fight... he is terribly claustrophobic and there is a reason why we won't sail in anything less than a balcony, preferably a large balcony, preferably a suite with a large balcony...

Quarantine aside....what about all the show cancelations? How long before the ports close?  

So stressful....I like to gamble, but I suck at it....is this a gamble I want to take??

Why do some of you assume that folks are quarantined in inside cabins?  Do you have facts or are you just making it up?

10’s and 10’s of thousands of people cruise each week. A very very very very small number are affected by COVID (denied boarding and even a smaller number on board). Go on your cruises. Enjoy your cruises.

Not making it up. My concern came from a thread that stated they were placed in an inside cabin for quarantine. Being claustrophobic, I feel it's a valid question.

wally4ever:   Horrible exprience!  If me or my SO had symptoms, we would self isolate, order room service delivered outside the door, teling service we are having private  moments, eat and drink w

 

what  we want and stay away from others,.  am a responsible person but would not go to to ship dr unless I needed medical intervention, not just feeling a little sick.  

So I guess the answer to my question is, yes they move you, was everybody on the deck they moved you to in isolation?

Wonder what the percentage is  of passengers experiencing this,  still onthe fence, and see NCL website has not posted the "new cancellation" policy

What does that have to do with anything?  Threads on other sites can also be linked.  I'm suspecting that this is a tall tale.  If you can provide evidence otherwise, I'll gladly retract my "contributions."  🤣
