Happy that they asked us ,  and I believe most people will ask the cruise lines to ask for the booster shot , it is time for that now specially with the omicron  because the efficacy of the first 2 shots has wained .

Hard to make the unsubstantiated claim about "most people", considering this survey appears to be going to  those who have already agreed to  take this injection due to their status of having current reservations.

The more interesting survey is to send this out randomly to all Marniers,, regardless of their current reservation status.  What is keeping current Mariners from re-booking another cruise?

We did not receive a survey, are 5 star Mariners and do not have a current reservation but do have significant FFC on file due to expire 12/22.

Not quite true. Just because people have reservations doesn’t mean they have agreed to take the vaccine.   Many people have cruises booked after HAL’s current vaccination policy expires.  I have 2 cruises booked, both after that date and haven’t received a survey, but if I did - my answer would be yes 😉   Personally, I hope and expect the date to be extended.

Apparently, from reading these comments, I answered with an unpopular response. Yes, no and no. I wonder how many boosters we are going to need to keep cruising?

Willingness to respond candidly on this topic here can be subject to a certain collective group pressure . As you noted claiming your perfectly sound response  may be "unpopular".

That sense of group pressure masks getting accurate responses on this sort of public forum, that may be disclosed in a more random and private HAL survey offered to both current (100% injected) and past HAL cruisers (varied injection status)..

My answer is “as many as it takes.”  Is it really a revelation that viruses mutate and adapt over time?  COVID vaccine boosters are in our future, as ubiquitous as the annual flu shot.

No, it’s not a revelation and I understand that viruses mutate, but we don’t have to have an annual flu shot to cruise. I just wonder where it ends or if it even does.

I get a Flu shot every year as they update that virus so having an annual Covid Vax is fine with me if it keeps me from getting very sick.  It would be nice if they could be in one shot or at least we could get them at the

The flu hasn’t killed 850,000+ Americans over the past two years.  I’ll take any vaccine that keeps me from getting very sick and allows me to safely live my life.

I would imagine when the number of deaths and hospitalizations are at a point where our medical professionals can attend to all who need treatment, no matter the cause, then we may see a sigh of relief, just like we did in late 2021.

If there are more mutations than vaccinations, it's going to be a while.

We also received the survey.  We do have another cruise booked for April.

For those who did not get it, you may want to login to HAL and see if your email preferences have been changed.  I did that a couple of weeks ago and my email said I opted out, which I had not.

Maybe HAL is concerned about people cancelling cruises if they loosen requirements.  I have four cruises booked and may cancel March and June if the Covid requirements are not in place.  I want to cruise with people who take this pandemic seriously and I definitely don’t want to get sick.

Good reminder.  I just checked and I'm still opted in for emails.  No survey, I guess they know they have me! 😅

We have 5 cruises booked, and did sail during covid,  October, 2021.  No survey here.  And we're Canadian!    I don't know what we will do about our July cruise if they don't maintain their vaccination requirements.

..from what i can tell, the email opt in is for news and marketing. I am still receiving booking related emails, but you can opt in and always opt out again later. image.png.96e534cc30d1487d239d02f30c67dac8.png

I got the survey. All yes. We are sailing in 34 days.  I get no emails from Holland that I can recall and I updated my email preferences hoping to get some casino offers.  Nope. Just one by snail mail over a year ago.  Hoping it is because we are sailing soon and they don't want us to cancel.

Lowly one star mariner here, zero HAL cruises currently booked, received survey, yes, yes, & yes 🙂

I know many in the health profession, they disagree that we are currently at that point.  Many say that their hospitals are getting slammed right now, almost all not vaccinated. This coupled with the amount of staff infected is making this quit hectic in many places.

I expect that we will see another minimum starting in March,  for exactly how long and what happens after that one can only guess.

Yes, I don't think we are there yet either. I was hoping the middle of Feb. would be better since that's when I will boarding an aircraft to fly to San Diego for a 35 day cruise.

Also got the survey and responded. It's still a toss up though whether to follow through and take the Panama Canal cruise out of FLL on 2/13 or not. We've both been vaccinated and received the booster but reading the ongoing amount of the current passenger on the Zuiderdam who is in "isolation" due to a positive COVID test after boarding makes us very unsure about being put through 10 days of isolation alone.

That should be a nice cruise.  Have they said anything about Bora Bora yet?   The Star Breeze and the Oceania Regatta  are also scheduled to over night there on the same days.  According to the rules French Polynesia put into place this year (1200 passenger per day limit in Bora Bora, with smaller ships getting priority) those two ships would seem to crowd out the HAL ship even if the passenger total was less than 1200.

They haven't said anything and I don't think they will till it's closer to sail date, if they even do then. We may board before we get confirmation of the bad news.  With that said, I don't think we will be stopping there, unless they pull off some kind of miracle.

When the situation changes with the virus such that it no longer overwhelms health facilities around the world without vaccines or boosters.  Today hospitals are getting slammed with each wave, mostly unvaccinated.

Until that happens expect many, if not most countries to require vaccines and boosters for international travel.  Since that includes destinations that cruise ships travel to, expect them as well.
