Access to Havana Pool with Multiple Rooms (only 1 Havana)

I'm daydreaming of a future cruise as I am getting a lot of awesome offers.

I know you can only access the Havana Pool during the day if you have a Havana Room.

I have heard of families booking multiple rooms and assigning people in rooms to save money, then re issuing room keys at Guest Services.

How would that work for the Havana Pool?

I want to book a non Havana Balcony with my offer and put my husband in a Havana room with his offer. We'd be travelling with our son, who could go in either room.

Would they allow us to get room keys so we can all access the Havana Pool? (my son is over 12 so no issue there).

Technically, no. Only the folks actually assigned to the Havana cabin should have the wrist bands that allow access to the Havana pool area.

Day and night  There is no more public access to Havana pools after 5 pm. Only those booked into Havana rooms are going to get wristbands,

Only way it would work is if all 3 of you were assigned to the Havana room and thus you would have the three wristbands needed to enter the Havana area.

If the casino offer is only good for two people, then legally only two of you would be able to go to the area.

Thank you for all your replies.

1 - I was not aware it was all day. I thought I had read that the pool area was open after 7pm for everyone. Glad to know it's all the time

2 - I did not know it was a wristband, and not your room key.

As others have said, Havana is only for those guests who pay for the cabin in that area.  And buying wristbands from E Bay won't get you anywhere either.  The colors change week to week, and you have to be wearing it to even get in; your Sail and Sign has a sticker on it too.  If you tried to buy anything at the bar, you'd be asked to leave at that time. The area is monitored and enforced regularly.

I love those cabins, and do not mind the upcharge to stay there.  But it would really make me mad if someone who didn't pay the extra tried to skirt around the system.

You could theoretically use it two at a time, say if your kid is using the kids club and such and you wanted some time with the hubby there. I thought about doing this as well since my kids enjoy the kids club so much anyway and my two older kids are over 12. Getting a spa cabin and a havana cabin and having the best of both worlds. The kids would only use the room to sleep and just switch the wristband back for that. The haters will squawk and quack about how unfair it is but whatever, couldn't care less. As long as it's the amount of people using it that you paid for, I don't see a difference. It isn't increasing the number of people, just switching access.

How many colors do you think they use?

Unless, as someone mentioned, they try to get something from the bar.

i suppose someone could even rent the bands by the hour.

Plenty of people pay more for their cabins than people paying for inside Havana cabins. Why shouldn't they be mad that their higher cruise fares are subsidizing a better pool experience than their higher fare gets? If you pay more, shouldn't you get more? It goes both ways. That said, as long as you don't exceed the number of paid guests, it shouldn't really matter in the end. If OP pays for two, it shouldn't matter which two or how they decide to utilize it as long as the wristbands are limited to the number of paying guests. I predict that it will end up like FTTF, people who want cabins in better locations will be able to buy a pool pass to havana pool. The ship within a ship nonsense is bad for passengers in the long run but everyone wants to feel special and turn a mass market product into a specialty product. Low budget luxury only leads to higher fares and less space for everyone.

You will also have a secondary issue with this plan.  You book one cabin for say, yourself and your son, and the second cabin is then registered under your husband's name alone.  That second cabin, no matter where it is located, will still cost the double occupancy rate.  Why not just book the coveted Havana and stop trying to get around the requirements?

I stand by my earlier assertion that you get what you pay for.  If someone doesn't like the upcharge, or if they "pay more" for somewhere else, that isn't the point.  If one wants Havana access, pay for the cabin.

I don't know the specific answer to that, but there are multiple colors.

Havana cabins mean Havana prices.  And if anyone is unwilling to pay them, they should not get access.  Period.

Sorry to bring up some negative experiences.

O.k. so if I get a Havana Cabin and put my husband and son in that cabin we'd get 2 wristbands and theoritically be allowed to have 2 people in the Havana area.

I don't see one issue with what you are describing. It's not negative. I don't like the ship within a ship concept. I think some enjoy it when it works in their favor but it's short sighted in the long run. The same cheerleaders will be the first ones to cry when Carnival sells this product as upgrade later on. It's how these things are done. Make the pool experience miserable, offer a paid solution and test market (havana) and then sell it as a upgrade and an expansion. It's the natural evolution. What you end up with is a multiple half-arsed products, higher prices and smaller spaces for all. It always seems like a good idea but the real question people should be asking is what are they doing about the crappy pool experience and why can't the product be fixed for everyone? Or any of the other reasons people have to want the ship within a ship, some mass market lines are doing the ship within the sip within the ship..lol. Where does low end pretend luxury end and a true higher end product begin, and what purpose does it serve? It's trickery and sly way of doing things.

The crew have pictures of guests and know exactly who has Havana access.  The wristband are the type that get cut off, like what  they put on kids for muster.

Along that line, would be buy one Spa pass and share it with multiple people, just as long as just one person  at a time is in the spa area.  Buy a Family Harbor room for a family of four and swap out with a second family of four all cruise as long as no more than four are in the Family Harbor area at a time.  Buy one CHEERS or Bubbles package and as long as just one person is sipping a beverage at a time, pass the attached S&S card around.

As someone who only books a Havana Cabana I can assure you @K_e_short there will be multiple hoops to jump through on this. My advice to to be honest and tread carefully.
There are stickers put on the sail and sign cards for those booked in Havana cabins. If you want to be able to access the Havana Outdoor area I suggest you make sure your name is on that Havana Cabin booking before boarding the ship. This whole discussion about switching names, switching wristbands is only going to piss off a lot of people who not only paid the upcharge to be in the Havana outdoor area but also to the crew that is assigned to work and monitor the area. You don’t want security called on you and you don’t want your name jotted down in Carnival’s little black book. I respectfully disagree with @cruisingguy007in that I adore the ship in ship concept and my hunch is it’s here to stay, like on NCL, MSC & Celebrity. Those of us who gladly pay the upcharge aren’t rule breakers and are honest about it. Please do everyone a favor and speak to your PVP about your expectations before you book. It will save you a lot of hassle & upset once on board. No offense but I just hope I will not be on the same sailing with you under your set of circumstances.

False equivalence in every example you gave.

Yes, and if your son went to the kids club and you used his Havana band, you could do it even though it would be technically against the rules.

Just don't get a drink at the bar since your picture would come up on the screen and I am assuming your cabin number as well, which would prove that you are not staying in a Havana cabin.

They don't.  There is a crew member at the doorway checking for admission.  They do way better for Havana than they do for Serenity

They must take a lot of breaks because all I see standing guard is a sign.

I think you missed the point entirely. OP, as well as myself, are not trying to "sneak" in. Just getting/using what is paid for. If I pay for a havana room, I'm dam sure going to use it, just like anyone else who pays for it. As far as the ship within a ship, get ready for everything to turn into à la carte. You'll see.
