Rare Shelly97060 Posted January 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2022 I thought I would go ahead and get this Live From thread started. There is an active roll call for this cruise and I am hoping others will join in and help answer everyone’s questions. I will be heading to the airport soon to catch a red eye to Fort Lauderdale! 9
coo359a2 Posted January 28, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2022 We arrived in Fort Lauderdale yesterday, had our tests -negative -yeah and thought we were safe to board the ship. Then later in the day got the notification that we will need to be tested at the terminal tomorrow before being allowed to board the ship. Wonder when we will ever get on the ship! 2 1

Rare iamaqt2 Posted January 28, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Following along as I am on the Ruby PC 2/25 and we also have San Juan del Sur and Cartegena as port stops. Very interested to see what is happening with those 2 ports.

This is now included in the Health protocols one of the frequently asked questions. Under the section “” Covid 19 testing requirements” — the first updated question’s third paragraph details types of cruises that may have an antigen test administrated at the terminal prior to embarkation. Test is complimentary
gullgeorge Posted January 28, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2022 We are also on this cruise and drove down from the Orlando area yesterday. Also received a negative test on Wednesday and brought a self test to verify this morning before heading to the terminal. Don't want to drop off rental car, get a positive test and have to go into quarantine. Emerald Princess is not arriving at buoy until 7:45 am this morning which is about an hour later than normal (not sure if it is the fog or change in schedule). Still schedule to leave a 4:00 pm. We have done two back to back cruises with Princess and they handled the testing very efficiently. We will see how they do a whole ship (even though it is not full). It should be a "fun" day. gardenbunny Posted January 28, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2022 I may have read the topic title too quickly and did not register that this is full transit. Our March is just partial. But thanks for info regarding certain cruises may require test at terminal. Good luck on all your testing - it is a “stresser” for me. We are taking a cruise with another cruise line for the first time out of Miami Feb 11. They require passenger to bring a negative test but then test at terminal. And then again on board if certain islands require it upon arrival at their dock. Getting weary from all this but I miss traveling too much so it is what it is.
molly1riv Posted January 28, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2022 We’re using Princess transfers and the hotel booked through Princess (Embassy Suites). There are 3 buses taking Princess passengers to the ship, the 1st bus just left at 11:45.

Rare iamaqt2 Posted January 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2022 How did the pre-boarding testing go? And have they given you an updated itinerary? Curious if Columbia is a no-go now as well as San Juan del Sur.
waterbabyfish Posted January 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2022 I've got the CB full transit booked in march....following along also! Interested in cartagena and San juan del ser also.
gullgeorge Posted January 28, 2022 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2022 We arrived at the terminal at 10:30 and was tested, check in and waiting to go on the ship at 11:15. Boarding started at 11:50. Well organized and the line never got very long after the initial rush (looks like they started just after 10). The dinning room is no longer open for lunch the first day and there are no sharing tables starting with this cruise. Do not know if this is on all ships. Captain just notified that we will not leave until to 6:00 pm (operational reasons) and the stop in Cartagena has been cancelled. 1
luv2cruisin Posted January 28, 2022 #15 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Thanks for embarkation info 🙂 Could you ask the head waiter during dinner service in MDR if they are currently selling the 'wine package' (for those who did not purchase the beverage package)? TIA
Rare SAKay Posted January 28, 2022 #16 Share Posted January 28, 2022 @gullgeorgeWhen you say the dining room is no longer open for lunch on the first day do you mean ever, or it was open earlier in the day, but closed by the time you got onboard ? Thanks for the info !
Rare SAKay Posted January 28, 2022 #17 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Have they said you will stop somewhere else instead of Cartagena and San Juan del Sur or they will be at sea days?

I’m interested to find out as well if they are going to be sea days. We have this cruise in March and having 12 out of 15 days being at sea is too much. hopefully if these ports are off for the near future, princess should reschedule other ports in their place.
jeno Posted January 28, 2022 #19 Share Posted January 28, 2022 San Juan del Sur has been cancelled for the 2/12 cruise for weeks. Replaced by sea day. They are not going to replace it with a port.
molly1riv Posted January 28, 2022 #20 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Re: the mandatory Covid testing before getting on the ship: they put about 40 people in each group to sit together, you can see the other groups. Our entire group made it through but in the 30 or so minutes we waited we saw 5 people picked out of their groups and escorted away. I assume they tested positive but I can’t really know.
Rare iamaqt2 Posted January 28, 2022 #21 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Thank you to everyone updating this thread. It helps to know what to expect on my PC 2/25 sailing on the Ruby. Good thing I like sea days.

Did you check-in your luggage before being tested? It would be another quagmire to retrieve your checked bags if you tested positive?

No way I wanted to chase down luggage if we had tested positive. cabins weren’t available until maybe between 12:00 and 12:30. We boarded on deck 5 so just got a table in Atrium and ate lunch at the IC. Good timing for us as had finished lunch when they announced cabins were open
