Grandeur of the Seas

Yes, Grandeur has been sailing out of Barbados since early December.

They have had some itinerary changes like other ships.

Chances for March are very favorable.

We were suppose to do a b2b on her feb 6th and feb 13th but we cancelled months ago.   We were originally going to do a precruise stay in Barbados but when Barbados released their covid protocols we didnt want to chance a positive test and have to quarantine.  So with us not wanting to fly there and their protocols we cancelled.

What are the chances it will be runnig in March? [Silly question, I know].

I'm getting on her on Sunday for 21 nights.... ports have been changed. Trinidad and Tobago were dropped in favour or St Kitts and Antigua.

Heard yesterday that Aruba has dropped mask requirements so hopefully other ports will follow.

First cruise is 14n to ABC, and Columbia, Panama etc.

Second cruise is 7n to islands - we get to go to Dominica and Grenada and St Vincent on both cruises.

St Vincent is the only port where you must ships tour.

St Lucia and Grenada you can take government approved tour

Everywhere else you can go ashore alone.

Hope that helps

We're booked for the repositioning to Galveston in April.  I'm hoping the Covid protocols in Barbados ease up some by then to avoid the stress.

Same here and hope for the same  WRT to protocols.

Hey everyone, please note that Barbados just updated their protocol today. They now accept a rapid antigen test within one day, not just the Rapid PCR. Unfortunately, they still don't accept self-administered tests, so I'm not sure how big of a help this is for anyone. At least here in Florida, it's very difficult to find any kind of test that is not self-administered without going to an urgent care center, or paying about $200 per person at a specialty clinic. If anyone finds any good options let us know.

Anyone been on it in past 1-3 weeks?

I read on the Feb 20 Grandeur thread that the ship had been able to make all of the ports on the itinerary (so far) so that's a very good sign.

I was on the Grandeur sailing from Barbados for 13th - 20th February 2022 and before the cruise, the only itinerary change made was Trinidad replaced with Curacao which pleased me, as I took in all three Dutch islands.  All ports visited on the revised itinerary.  I have done a cruise review on this sailing which can assist others because I really enjoyed this cruise.

One of the best ships (IMHO) do to the crew to customer ratio and that the ship is very intimate with superior service.

Granted it doesn't have all the bells and whistles like Anthem or Harmony or Allure.
It is a great ship for Low Stress, relaxing on the deck with a good book and enjoying Schooner Bar.

Cool! Id  love to hear some sort of a review when youre done....the boat, the last 7 days more so and whatever other titbits you might have! Enjoy yourself!

Currently on board a 14n cruise then staying for 7n.

Ship is very tired.
Service is patchy as if they are all trainees; but they are getting better. It’s now day 13 and despite asking every day they still don’t have a jug of skimmed milk at the tea station!
There are 740 on board of which 328 are British, 280 USA, 57 Canada… ( with the majority being Brits on board you think they would know about cups of tea 🫖!!)

Food has been served hot in MDR, WJ is closed at night, but they have offered a brunch on several days in MDR.

Entertainment has not been good; the pool band guy can’t sing, neither can the Schooner Bar guy - but tonight they have a Jersey Boys tribute so it’s getting better.  Lots of quizzes and movies.

Wifi is poor. Cannot get connected in my cabin.

Captain is invisible. CD is pretty lame too.
However,  the itinerary and ports have been brilliant!

JMHO.

JMHO.

We've sailed her many times out of Baltimore and our last was just prior to the Covid shut down in March.

Our grand suite was very tired to say the least. It looked Like an old worn-out motel room from the 50's that never had an upgrade. Veranda door had no functioning lock and slid open when the ship rode over a swell. even after 2 repairs. Wind sound was very loud from leaky door gasket. A/C and heat had to be repaired twice, and the ceiling panel actually fell.

It was however an adventure since almost all the ports were closed and we basically had a cruise to nowhere but for 2 ports.  Spent a ton in the casino and still enjoyed the cruise, possibly due to the deluxe beverage package . .

Loved the old favorites like the schooner and had GREAT waiters in the MDR.

Entertainment was the usual, too loud. LOL

Crew was great, MDR food was great buffet was as always very good but Chops was a horror show.

Internet was very spotty.

Just wish they had spent a little time on upkeep, not even on upgrade, just upkeep.

Sad to see her in such bad condition, and I am not fussy about some rust or a frayed or worn sofa or rug.

Agreed.
She was an old gal, but we REALLY enjoyed her when we had her..
Sorry to hear others are having issues with service.

Maybe that's why prices for grandeur were so reasonable. I'm prepared to make allowances though hearing only the one good show onboard and WJ no dinner yet is worrisome. I think when she gets to texas capacity will be much higher from looking at how many cabins are no longer available. Prices are definitely creeping up. I see people asking which ship is better grandeur or adventure? That people are even asking tells me their expectations are maybe too high for what I read about grandeur shows, food services and condition. I'd really like dinner in the WJ for instance.
