Players Club offer

We received a Players Club offer but have only been to the casino to pass through. We also haven't participated in the casino events through the Medallion; we aren't gamblers. I understand  these are offered randomly, which would make sense that we received this, otherwise why would the offer have been made?

If we accept, are we required to use the casino? Are there any restrictions? I did't see anything on the booking page stating any but would like to hear from people who have accepted a Players Club offer.

Thanks for any input.

This offer was posted and replies as well on a thread I cannot locate for some reason.  I got this "sail & play" offer from the Princess Players Club.  I have NEVER received a casino offer before.  From some other posts, I am surmising a lot of customers got this who never saw casino offers before.

I am also thinking this is not a "true" or "typical" casino offer since there is no casino cash credit involved.  Also, they are only offering the very lowest cabin categories for high discount.  One voyage I looked at, if you wanted a better cabin then 'xF' category, it was cheaper to book without the email promo code.

I haven't received anything yet but logged in this morning and was just checking fares and all of a sudden standard non plus fares are extremely discounted for a couple Mexico cruises coming up. We're talking about $99 for an inside with $75pp in onboard credit on a 5 day Cabo cruise. Assuming this might be related as it wasn't there 2 days ago.

I also got this email yesterday. Never had one before. Just for fun, I tried to make a booking on a number of the listed cruises and they all hit the “something went wrong with your booking” block before I could actually book a cabin. Makes me think this particular email might have gone out in error.

Yes, it's related because Princess associates any eligible offers to your Captain's Circle account, so, when logged in, it shows you the best pricing offer available to you.  Hence the $99 thing.

Just a note though - I checked the same voyage without my login and for the higher category cabins not deep-discounted, I found the pricing better by not using the recent "sail & play" offer.  Interesting - and a lot of folks wouldn't notice this.  Some third party pricing engines show you more fare codes than Princess.com which only shows one for Saver and one for Plus.

I may not have been correct about seeing a different price for higher catg cabin when not using the promo.  Do your shopping carefully and ask TA or CVP if any other fare codes are better for you.

if it is a true casino offer, you have to go through the casino department (phone number is on the offer).  At the time of booking you pay for everything up front.

If the offer gives you casino play money, then you will have to go to the casino and play the "free" money.

here’s the other thread https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2828222-come-back-and-play-offer

As Roxie mentioned, you can tell casino offers by the telephone number you have to call to book - if it’s not the Casino department, it’s a regular offer.  For Casino offers you do need to pay your portion at time of booking, and then the casino (eventually) pays the balance off before sailing.

I believe the “Sail and Play” offer is a standard marketing offer, since you just call 1.800.PRINCESS for questions.  Probably a general marketing offer to see if they can attract new players.

So got the email and oh yes it is a saving. I also faked a booking to see regular price, compared apples to apples, and it was double the price. Basically going on a one week cruise in a BD balcony on Riviera for 478.00 for two people on the Sky Princess once all the OBC applied. Staying home would cost us more 😎

When I get an email offering a casino rate with some OBC ( not like yesterday’s casino offer). I go through the booking process to the payment part ( online) and a box pops up showing the fare listed in the website & the discounted casino fare I will pay.

or

I call and get agent to price it out

My email is not a true Casino offer, so this campaign is generic and more like advertising from the casino to bring on guests.

We have five cruises booked for this year.  March, April, June, Aug, Sept - all casino offers

all were free cabins (some we paid extra to upgrade to a higher cabin level)  I keep getting offers (really they are for my husband, but come to my email) - I hate to tell him because he says, let's go, Book It.

When you received a free cabin, it is hard to say no.

Happy cruising.

How many nights do you have to sleep in the casino to get a true casino offer with free cabin, etc.?   Or maybe better question-   How much do you have to donate to the Princess casino to get noticed for the true casino offer?  Not that I would ever consider doing either to get a free cabin, just being very curious.

I can't tell you a money amount.  My husband and I both play, we budget amount per day and if we win, we keep playing or stop and carry over the winnings to the next day.  Most of the time we lose, we have been lucky on a few cruises.  I came home with $2,200 once and my husband won a slot tournament for $500 in casino play (different cruise line).  My husband gets offers for free Balcony and I get offers for free inside, but we also get offers for free casino play money, anywhere from $150 to $500.  Others get way more.

I would be guessing, but gambling $200 a day, you win some and put it back in, so you might be giving them $300 or more per day.

Basically, the money we gamble pays them back for the "free" cabin

I’ve only been on one cruise with Princess, and I get casino offers all the time (free balcony, with some comps).  New baby (toddler) at the time, so I couldn’t spend much time in the Casino.  Maybe 2 hours a night average, cycled through $500-$600 per night (total play, including my money in, and winnings played).  Not sure how much I donated, but usually it’s not how much you lose that they really track, it’s how much (and how long) you play.

We were on the cruise through a Casino cross marketing offer (with the Venetian in Vegas), and I definitely have status there, so that may influence my appeal to Princess.

It's not about the money you spend but the points you gain. It's a possibility if you play smart to recycle the same money over and over to gain points.

It's a misconception that all Casino Offers are for high rollers, I assure you that's not the case.

I recently used $50 OBC and played slot machines for days on the winnings of that $50. I won, I lost and cashed out at $54. My goal was to just accumulate points to get more free offers.

  • 9 months later...

Kathyrd, sometimes they will let you upgrade.  My last casino cruise, they would not let me upgrade, but  later, they invited me to bid for an upgrade.  I did make a bid (actually two bids), but other than the acknowledgment/confirmation, never heard back.

For my upcoming casino cruise, they invited me to upgrade at time of booking.

I think it depends on the bookings and how full the ship is for your particular voyage.

We have only been on Celebrity and Princess cruises.  In the past five years it has been Princess only as Celebrity does not go out of LA

yesterday we got a postcard flyer from Royal Caribbean International

"Complimentary balcony stateroom for two"

it is for the casino royale - which i guess is their casino company

they gave us a choice of cruises out of Miami, tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, Galveston, Baltimore and LA

the LA is the only we would consider, but it is for a 4 night cruise only.  No packages included.
