Woody14 Posted February 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2022 Will be traveling to Alaska with the family and have booked 2 cabins (balcony and inside across the hall) due to the fact my 'kids' are 19 & 16 I had to split up my DW and I up and put one of the kids in each room knowing I can change things up when we actually sail with the kids in one room and us in the other. I have done this on a few other lines and each had their own policy or way of doing it. Does someone know Celebrities way? For example one line let us change who is where once we made final payment, another did it at the port when we checked in and the other we had to wait in the big line at guest services on embarkation and they just issued an extra couple of keys so people could access as needed. Must say I liked doing it in advance the best and am hoping not to have to do the guest services thing upon boarding but just am preparing mentally. Rare cruisestitch Posted February 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2022 First, I’m not sure you have to split yourselves up that way. At one time kids across the hall from parents could have a room by themselves. I think that policy is unchanged. So check before you go further. kearney Posted February 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2022 you should check I thought that there had to be an adult in the cabin..but I am not sure... could have been a different cruise line..
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2022 On Celebrity, there always was a way that parents could have their own room and kids could have theirs as long as they were next door or directly across the hall. Check through the FAQs and see if that is still in place.
Woody14 Posted February 11, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted February 11, 2022 So far all I have found on the FAQ's is that sailing from North America at least 1 person per cabin has to be 21 to book.
jelayne Posted February 11, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2022 I know that parents and children could be in separate cabins if they were connecting, or across the hall. There may have been a minimum age but certainly 19 & 16 would qualify.

LOL - I think I may be calling back the TA to challenge the way it is set up now and get ahead of things.

Rare cruisestitch Posted February 11, 2022 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2022 This is the current cruise ticket contract. It uses the word adjacent, I am certain that it used to define adjacent as including across the hall. So yes, it’s time to get the travel agent involvedThis is the current cruise ticket contract. Rare KKB Posted February 11, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) We have done this on Celebrity. We just get extra keys for each room. They were down the hall from us. (oldest was 20) The kids stayed in one & us in another, tho we didn't change the names on the booking. The steward was aware & unconcerned. Officially each of us was an occupant of each cabin & we always had a key to theirs (they did not have one to ours...we kept those) Edited February 11, 2022 by KKB
