How current does proof of stock ownership need to be for Shareholder OBC?

Is there any timeline or time frame for how current proof of Carnival stock ownership has to be when requesting the OBC benefit?

We've a cruise booked for April. Last time we cruised and requested the share holder benefit was last November. Can I use the same brokerage  statement I pulled last October when I submit my request for the April cruise? I could pull another statement, but have a couple of hoops to jump through with our broker, and other options, but I'm just curious how current a proof of stock ownership would need to be. Thanks.

The "rules" don't address this, but I believe the email used to claim the benefit is reviewed by a actual person. Assuming you have up to 3 weeks to wait for a reply, then another 3 weeks to have them process your claim, you could email and ask.

I always provide my most recent statement to eliminate any uncertainty.

A little fun fact. I booked one cruise ~1 week prior to the sail date. They weren't able to process my request in the short time frame, so they granted a "one-time courtesy refund" in the amount of the OBC to my credit card that I booked with.

Unless you are paying full fare (which no one can) they will not give you the OBC

I was approved today for a very discounted cruise. Waiting to hear on another.

I thought the brokerage statement showing stock ownership had to be no more than 3 months old.

I have only had them ask for an updated statement once, and the one I'd sent was about 3 months old.  I immediately sent a current one and they granted the OBC within 24 hours. (And this happened within the last 6 months).

Yep, had already read that I before I asked my question. My "problem" was my broker changed how I was able to get my stock statements, meaning what was available to me last year, was not when I checked yesterday. Those contained the information Carnival asks for when submitting the request for the shareholder benefit. My first thought was to just use a previous statement from last year. Some replies suggested that could be ok, others suggested maybe not. I've since been in contact with my broker and they will be providing me the appropriate statement I'd need. Thanks.

Sorry to have upset anyone, I was just going on what Carnival sent to me when they rejected my request for shareholder OBC.

Thank you for submitting your shareholder brokerage statement.

Regrettably, we are unable to process your request to apply the shareholder benefit with the referenced reservation.

In accordance with the terms of the shareholder onboard credit benefit, reservations with a reduced rate promotion do not qualify for the onboard credit. While it may have been inadvertently accepted in the past, we are now adhering to the conditions of the shareholder program.  We sincerely apologize for any disappointment this has caused and trust, that as a Carnival investor, you will understand our position in this matter.

Again, sorry to have offended or upset anyone

That is no longer true, if it ever was.  We just sailed with the Medical Professionals discount and Casino discounts and we got the Shareholder Benefit.
(This is true, however, on Royal Caribbean)

Medical professionals discount?  How did you get that?  My wife is a nurse and we have never seen a rate like that.

It was advertised (actually saw it here on CC somewhere around Oct/Nov..  You had to get verified by showing proof of where you work or a current license.  They were giving away a free 7 day cruise but if you didn't win, they offered 50% off another cruise. It had to be booked by 12/31 and sail before February.  So it was a small window, but we were able to get the discount.......first time EVER for a discount for being a nurse!

What reduced rate code/promotion did you book with that was rejected?

It was just booking online, and I chose an option, it was just a normal book a balcony room type deal on the website, for the 2 of us it was around the $1500 mark, not what I would call a reduced fare, just a normal sale price.

There was a point in time where they were rejecting the Shareholder Request for discounted cabins that the had approved in the past. That glitch has apparently been remedied (probably because of many complaints) and they have gone back to the more lenient rules for approval. Just submit your request again. Some people have even got the benefit as a credit to their card after the cruise if there wasn't time to approve it in advance, but YMMV.

Yes, it was not the passengers getting $25 cruises who were complaining as @BlerkOne likes to maintain. And I do believe that the complaints from loyal to the brand cruisers finally had an impact on the bean counters. Turning a marketing tool into a source of complaints can never be a good strategy.
