That's great but in reality it didn't need to be this way and shouldn't have been.  I hope they let you keep the OBC AND give you the comparable cabins and maybe a specialty dinner to boot.

Not exactly that but I’m not complaining anymore. I feel like royal Caribbean did the right thing and took care of my situation.

You’re right I am happy I’m not gonna trigger anything else I’m done triggering. And I did not mean to be sarcastic I do appreciate everybody’s concern and valued advice. I was in a bit of temporary insanity, much better now though!

Just reading this thread and chiming in to say you didn't sound greedy at all and very happy it all worked out for you at the end. This should not have taken so many hours of your time and unnecessary aggravation.

I'm just hoping that someone else didn't lose their large balcony cabin to a smaller one to accommodate you.  That would be really crappy on RCI!!!  Glad you got what you paid for!!!

Thanks TNCindy, now I feel guilty. That’s a very good point I hadn’t even thought about that but all things considered that’s probably what happened, because I was told at least five times yesterday that there were no rooms available anywhere, Snd no further changes could be made because it was all said and done according to them. Then miraculously they found three Large Balcony Cabins to move us into. I surely hope I did not unintentionally cause others to be displaced. I would rather believe Royal Caribbean did the right thing, and all is good with the world, well I can’t believe that exactly all things considered, but I would like to!

Except for the part where you spent 2 work days on the phone with them for something that should have been common sense.  Just another reason I'm so thankful I have a TA who's a bulldog even though I prefer to do the investigation myself.

About now I'd be glad I have a awesome ta to handle this.

TAs are not miracle workers.  Why do people act as if they can always make things right.  My last TA pretty much told me he did the best he could do and I should speak to RC myself.

You had a bad TA. If you don't find a good TA, you leave money on the table every time you cruise. TA's can see cabins available that RCCL won't show you. Group rates can be awesome. Book yourself and you are sure to loose out on OBC + more.

Just curious, did you make any Royal Up bids prior to being bumped from your original staterooms? I'm on deck six in a port side Ocean View with Large Balcony on the 4/8 sailing.  Given the many posts in this topic, it sounds like there is a possibility I could be bumped should the policy continue.  I did do some Royal Up bids to some higher categories - just wondering if that might affect if or how I would be moved if it comes to that.

I would guess that the correct answer is one mentioned by someone earlier in this thread.

It's the maiden voyage.  They probably moved some free-loading (j/k) Miami VIPs to the regular balcony cabins.

Thanks you are correct, last cruise in December I was on my balcony five minutes total the whole trip. But my wife likes to sit on the balcony and have me bring her coffee in the morning , And it just makes the cabin seem larger when you have a larger balcony.

Sorry this has happened to you and your family. Personally it wouldn't be the smaller balcony that would annoy me, it would be the fact I had paid so much more for something I am not getting.

I hope you can put it to one side and enjoy your holiday and get some kind of resolution when you get back.

Updated to say I've just read further and see it's been resolved to your satisfaction. Happy for you. Have a great cruise!

Hope some of the inaugural cruisers will come on here and give us an update on the new ship

Of course they are not but they generally do have contacts and know far better how to navigate the system than an individual.  Plus they have the ability to call and get through to someone better than you or I.  They also have more pull with an entity than the individual.  Mine has impressed me over the years.  At heart I prefer to do things myself for most options, like air and auto rentals, but for cruises and group tours, I use a TA.  I've had bad luck with AAA a couple of times, I'd have been far better off doing it myself.  I met my current TA through my Bluegreen timeshare as they were captive when I was using points to pay for a portion of a cruise but she was so good that I use her for everything as do several friends and coworkers now.

I had 6 cruises in a row canceled through no fault of my own.  Oasis decided to reposition 2 weeks early without a replacement so we had to change dates then they hit her with a crane and had to cancel several cruises then with a couple of hurricanes cancelations and Covid cancelations later, the FCC were all over the place and RCL got it wrong every time, esp the 125% amounts.  She tracked it and she stayed on them communicating with me to make sure I got them then got them applied.

I’m glad it worked out for you and I don’t blame you for being upset. I think it’s pathetic that all the agents you talked to couldn’t have moved you to these balconies when you first called. Hopefully Baileys office is trying to figure that out!

The problem is not with the agents, but with the revenue folks that the agents need to get permission.

Recently, I called the Casino Desk to adjust my Oasis Dec. 4 sail for the solo supplemental as I reached the DP340 while sailing on Allure.  Initially, I contacted CS and after some 15 minutes on phone and giving me the impression that this is the first time they heard of this and was punted to  the Casino desk.

Call the Casino desk and luckily the first agent that I spoke to was aware and told that it would be adjusted for the DP340.  Get my adjusted invoice and my on board booking OBC was reduced from $100 to $38.  Called again and after going thru an explanation I was told that it would be adjusted.  Called again as no invoice was forthcoming.  The agent tells me that he/she needs to look into it.  I get an adjusted OBC amount, but it's for $38 twice.   At this point, I'm wondering what the heck is going on.

So, I call again, and the agent was very understanding and told me that there's a note in the system of the add'l $62 in OBC, but it was not processed.  She asks if I could hang on so that she would contact the proper people to process the transaction.  After some 20 minutes on phone (thanks for speaker phone), I asked her if she would call me back.  Was a bit hesitant and agreed to call me but it would be some 2-3 hours later.  Finally get a call and the adjusted invoice.

PS.  One needs to be persistent.

RCCI did it WRONG on your case.  If they oversold the sailing they should contact you with offer of $$ to downgrade you but they used bogus reasons to take away your cabins.  I do not know for sure but RCCI must did some thing with $$ offer  to get those cabins for you.

On Princess may years back they contacted us 3 times to give up our cabin with $$ offer OBC  and the offer was coming up until Friday before Saturday sailing we could have a free cruise just pick the date/sailing and $$ OBC.  We did not take the offer.

Glad it all worked out for you.  Enjoy your cruise and go back here to let us know about your experience on the NEWEST ship of RCCI.

I've had just as much success navigating RC without a TA.  There's been times when RC wouldn't budge even with a TA.  It is what it is.  Personally, I don't find them to be the solution to every problem with any cruise line the way people portray them to be.

In the Celebrity forum there were many threads about a well known and respected agency that wouldn't return calls timely during the pandemic.  The agency didn't go out of business and may have been short staffed  but there was nothing but anxiety and headaches with reservations.

I'm not knocking a TA, sometimes they are helpful and sometimes not.  I just don't get why saying having a TA is a generic answer when someone has an issue.  In this case, the OP found a satisfactory resolution without a TA.

I would suggest that some are far more helpful than others.  I'm thankful for mine and I am one that would generally handle such issues myself for most things.  A bad one is worse than none though.

I did not do any royalup beds because I have an 18-year-old daughter and her boyfriend in the cabin next to us and they have to be right next to us, you can’t roll up for two rooms to be next to each other, although I wish I could have rolled up to a grand suiteI did not do any royalup beds because I have an 18-year-old daughter and her boyfriend in the cabin next to us and they have to be right next to us, you can’t roll up for two rooms to be next to each other, although I wish I could have rolled up to a grand suite

Btw, I had one of your stateroom but I kept my mouth shut bc I didn’t want royal to change their mind,  yesterday at 3am they moved us to deck 12 by the elevators of the back, is no longer a big balcony like the one you had but still a balcony with better position in my opinion, can’t wait to get onboard.
