Rare ninjacat123 Posted March 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2022 This was a first for me. I've had Carnival call and offer an upsell or send me an email about a special deal but this surprised me. I checked my May 28 Ecstasy 5 day cruise on my Cruise Manager and a pop-up appeared offering an upsell from an interior to a balcony for $200 total. Since I have myself and my 2 DDs in the same room I thought "heck yes!" and clicked on the button to approve the upsell. All went through and the modification is reflected in the Cruise Manager. I was lucky I checked on my cruise so I could take advantage of this. Anyone else have an upsell like this? 3
Rare 1kaper Posted March 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2022 I haven’t. I have seen others say they have so I’ve been checking mine daily. 😂
cruisingguy007 Posted March 2, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2022 Thanks for this info, I was wondering how this whole thing works. I'll be on the look out for this as I have an interior that I wouldn't mind upgrading.
Rare ninjacat123 Posted March 2, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted March 2, 2022 This was on a cruise that was an email offer at a great rate. Basically $100 per person but you got $50 OBC. Maybe because it was a "special offer" so the "balcony carrot" was dangled? I don't know but I thought I'd include that info as well. Oh, and I could have upsold to a suite but that was more than I wanted to spend, like $450 I think. I will be checking my Cruise Manager more frequently after this!👍
Woken Posted March 2, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2022 A couple of years ago I received an offer to upgrade to a suite. And of course I accepted. 😁

Ilovesailaway Posted March 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2022 Yes my last 2 Carnival cruises were crazy deals. I booked both as inside rooms, the most recent a GTY inside. Both cruises an upsell to a balcony room popped up on my to do list in my planner just days before departure.
2wheelin Posted March 2, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2022 Same happened to me but I wasn’t over the moon with the cabin they were offering. Called my PVP and he said there were lots of others to choose from and I could also move up to a higher deck for just $10 more. So it pays to call and see what else is available if you get an offer.
groundloop Posted March 3, 2022 #9 Share Posted March 3, 2022 (edited) I've had upsell/upgrade offers just show up on the Carnival website, as well as a casino offer for dirt cheap cruises. I guess some of the geniuses at Carnival think everyone's lives revolve around looking at the Carnival website. I believe it would make a lot more sense and get a bigger response if they emailed these offers to those who are eligible. Rare Saint Greg Posted March 3, 2022 #10 Share Posted March 3, 2022 I had one but I was too late. It expired before I logged in. I used to get emails on them but now I guess you have to check the website.

x lindsay x Posted March 3, 2022 #13 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Where does this pop up in your cruise manager? I want to make sure I am looking in the right place for any possible future offers.

I believe I selected my Ecstasy cruise (I have a couple cruises coming up) and noticed in my To Do List an addition I hadn't seen before. It said something like, "Want to upgrade?" I clicked on it and a window popped open saying "do you want to upgrade to a balcony for $200" or "a suite for more money (I think $450) and I selected the balcony offer. I would check your Cruise Manager To Do List everyday.👍 1
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 3, 2022 #15 Share Posted March 3, 2022 I had one for my 3/31 cruise on Spirit. $100 from inside to balcony. But I booked this solo when the ship was still Ecstasy, a 1A knowing the ships were being switched. Total including taxes for a solo are $228. When cabins were reassigned to Spirit I got one of the 4K former French door cabins. Same interior space as a balcony. I like knowing I have a balcony, but seldom use it. I booked them when I could afford for my sister. But she passed in Jan, so I am solo again. I passed on the offer, but if they come back with one for a suite…. Rare maxandmolly Posted March 3, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 3, 2022 I had an offer the other day to upgrade from a Lido interior on the Magic to a deck 9 balcony for $240. I passed. Hoping maybe a suite upsell opportunity might come up.

Kanyon71 Posted March 4, 2022 #19 Share Posted March 4, 2022 I have an upsell on June Mardis Gras cruise from our extended balcony to an Ocean Suite. They want $630 for the upgrade. If it was in the $400-$500 range I would do it but don't want to spend an extra $630 right now.
Retiredmedic Posted March 4, 2022 #20 Share Posted March 4, 2022 My girlfriend moved from inside to a balcony for a cruise on the Breeze last month for $100. I check every day for an upsell on our cruise in 2 weeks and nothing. Must mean a sold out cruise.

Ihearttravel11 Posted March 8, 2022 #25 Share Posted March 8, 2022 How close to the cruise is an upsell typically offered? We have 5 months to go until ours. I am curious as to when I should start looking for a potential upsell. Thanks!
