TiffyAnn Posted March 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2022 My mom is taking my sister and I to Alaska and we are in a sky suite. Are all sky suites part of the Retreat?
canderson Posted March 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Yes. All Sky Suite guests have access to the Retreat lounge and any other areas that your specific ship sets aside for retreat guests (e.g., Luminae restaurant). Different ships that have or haven't been updated may have slightly different offerings.
pauly Posted March 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Yes, as it is a suite.
kwokpot Posted March 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2022 It's a fair question. Sky Suites in most other cruiselines would be considered a junior suite and may be treated differently. Royal, for example, doesn't grant full suite amenities to their junior suites. It's great that Celebrity does treat their junior suites as the same. TiffyAnn Posted March 3, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Thanks. One more question. When I look at the cruise for excursions it shows that I can purchase a better drink package. Is the one that is with the suit the premium one?
39august Posted March 3, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Yes, it is premium for suites.

They are Sky Suites, on a totally different cruiseline. Edited March 3, 2022 by pauly

A Sky suite is just a larger room, which is what most cruiselines call a junior suite. Same thing as Celebrity calling a balcony room a veranda. I was making a distinction between Celebrity and Royal which was appropo to the original question.
wrk2cruise Posted March 3, 2022 #10 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Yes if you are booked with the Always Included Retreat pricing (which most people are) it includes the Indulge package. Premium Beverage Package, Stream (or Premium) Wifi, Gratuities, and OBC amount depending on the length of your sailing.
dkjretired Posted March 3, 2022 #11 Share Posted March 3, 2022 It’s just a name each company gives. All Celebrity suites have full suite benefits which means years ago a butler and always have.We had a sky suite on the Horizon 30 years ago and had Nikki the butler. Again it’s only a name.

But IMO, having sailed in a EDGE SS, there is really no comparison, I got hooked and to me it def is a suite, nothing junior about it. Only nod compare to the NCL PH, was the balcony, we love forward facing, but will take SS any time of the day.

Been in both and there’s a very big difference. The SS is a real suite!

The SS is a real suite! A suite in land-based hotels typically have a separate living room from the bedroom. A two bedroom suite has a living room and two bedrooms. Some have kitchens or kitchenettes. A hotel Junior suite is typically larger than a standard guest room. I agree that Celebrity is taking a bit of poetic license with their terminology for a Sky Suite. The room itself is more like a land based Junior Suite. What makes a sky suite sweet are the perks, the inclusion in the Retreat and access to Luminae. You're paying for that and the additional square footage a larger room, balcony and bathroom occupy on the ship. If you want a real suite experience you'll have to pay a lot more for the cabins with separate bedrooms from living rooms.

The online upgrades are redundant in your case. If you bought the entire ship, the Celebrity IT dept would still try to sell you a drink package upgrade.

You are correct I guess if you want to define a suite by the amount of actual cabin space you get. I am referring to the Butler, the perks and the amenities that you don't get in a junior suite on Royal.

On Royal Caribbian Junior Suites are in their own Suite Class. On Celebrity Sky Suites are in the same Suite Class as Celebrity Suites. The Price Difference between Aqua/Concierge and Sky Suites is akin to the Price difference between a Junior Suite and a Grand Suite. IHMO as Sky Suite on Celebrity is the more similar to a Grand Suite on Royal than it is to a Junior Suite.

phoenix_dream Posted March 3, 2022 #23 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Regardless of what the name is or how it differs from other lines or hotels, the bottom line is on Celebrity the Sky Suites are treated like other suites as regards basic suite amenities, and they definitely have the pricing structure to go along with it! They are definitely not priced as a junior anything.
