Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2022 We normally sail with Viking. Considering a cruise with Oceania (Insignia) in November. We are interested in a PH1, 2 or 3 but notice all these rooms are on deck 8 which is below pool, restaurants. We never book on deck below restaurant/pool as concerned of the noise factor. Anyone with experience in these rooms on deck 8. TIA.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted May 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2022 If you are expecting an Oceania ship to be like what you are used to on Viking Ocean, you need to book O-class (Marina or Riviera) or the forthcoming A-class. You are describing the older R-class ships, which are much smaller and (while beloved by many, including me) not comparable to the shiny new Viking designs.
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Thanks very much. The itinerary we are looking at is on the Insignia. Maybe not for us as we love the cabins on Viking.

Location location location If there are available cabins under the card room or spa they will not be as noisy as those under Waves grill or the pool where the chairs are being moved early morning If you spend a lot of time in your cabin then the R ships PH cabins may not be for you JMO
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Don’t spend a lot of time in cabin but like to have some space. Rooms on this class of ship are very small. We are use to PV1 and Explorer Suite rooms. Thanks for your comments.
NattilyAttired Posted May 17, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2022 I was in 8048 on Nautica earlier this month and we never noticed any noise from the pool deck or Waves grill above.

Maybe a Vista or OS would work if you really like the itinerary
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted May 17, 2022 338 vs 322. Only rooms available now are in the B1 category, 216 sq.ft.

Rare ronrick1943 Posted May 17, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 17, 2022 To me a cabin and service are very important— that said you may not be happy on the smaller ships.
Rare mauibabes Posted May 17, 2022 #11 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Beachvue, when you book, be sure to request a Waitlist of any of the upgraded Suites that interest you. Often just after Final Payments are made the Waitlists open up a number of Suites. Enjoy your cruise. Mauibabes
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #12 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Thank you. We are on the waitlist. Fingers crossed!
Rare mauibabes Posted May 17, 2022 #13 Share Posted May 17, 2022 WAITLIST(s) I hope. Your Booking Statement should show you your position in each category you are WL’d on. They will also update your position when you call and request an update. A Priority Waitlist with a Deposit is the only way to go. Besides you are already booked in a B Veranda so we’ll just 🤞🙏 Good Luck. Mauibabes
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #14 Share Posted May 17, 2022 I don’t have a confirmation number yet. Still waiting to get this from travel agent. I assume once I get this I can log in to my reservation on Oceania and track.
Rare oskidunker Posted May 17, 2022 #15 Share Posted May 17, 2022 My oct 1 cruise for 17 days on Serena still shows virtually no rooms two weeks after final pay.
Beachvue Posted May 17, 2022 Author #16 Share Posted May 17, 2022 I really don’t expect we will get a room but it’s worth the chance. There is always another cruise out there.
