MIRYAM Posted May 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2022 what are the best cruises to see Norway Iceland and maybe Greennland
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2022 If itinerary is your focus you need to look for ships that call at your desired ports/countries. Try going to www.cruisetimetables.com. There are various ways to research on the site, but I would start with ports of call/destinations. They have recently revamped the site and now the tab says Cruises to…. Pick your country and port. Then you have to choose when you want to visit. It will tell you who is calling there and their itineraries. EM
Rare cruisemom42 Posted May 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Depends on whether you are looking for an expedition-type cruise or a regular cruise with port stops. The expedition cruise will enable you to see more of the "rugged" landscape and wildlife of these countries, but they are generally on small ships (with little entertainment other than the sightseeing) and tend to be expensive. Hurtigruten is well known for their excursion itineraries in these areas. Many mass market cruise lines now offer a few of these itineraries. If you want to include both Iceland and Greenland, you'll need to look in the months of July through September for the most part -- the time of year when Greenland is most likely to be accessible. I know Holland America has several different itineraries from shorter to longer. NCL has a few that include Greenland. Princess often has a few. Oceania (more expensive) generally has limited cruises, longer but fairly good itineraries. For Greenland, I'd aim for a smaller rather than larger ship. All the ports are tendered and often the towns are so small that only one tender can be accommodated at their port at a time, meaning it can take hours to tender everyone off the really large ships. donaldsc Posted May 17, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2022 Your question is not answerable with the very limited information you have provided in your post. Define your preferred cruise parameters and maybe we can give you useful information. DON

Departs Southampton July 11, 2023 from about $19,000.

Rare Hlitner Posted May 18, 2022 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2022 Just a warning about Greenland. With the exception of Nuuk, the other Greenland ports are tiny tender ports that are often a mess with large ships. It can take many hours just to tender folks ashore in some of the ports that can handle no more than a single tender. So when it comes to Greenland I strongly recommend a smaller cruise ship that preferably has fewer then a 1000 passengers. We once were on the Caribbean Princess where there were two Greenland tender ports that were a disaster. In one case there were many passengers who waited over 3 hours to get ashore (many of them simply gave up). And returning to the ship meant waiting for over an hour in a long tender queue. babyblue78 Posted May 21, 2022 #9 Share Posted May 21, 2022 There is an Arctic Crossing cruise on RCCL Serenade of the Seas Sept 2023 departing Copenhagen with ports Norway, Iceland, and Greenland, ending in Boston. Very well priced right now, if you want to check that out.
