granann Posted May 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2022 On a detailed Liberty of the Seas website I read that “fully covered shoes” are required in the Windjammer. What exactly does that mean? No flip flops? No sandals? That was not the case before. I’d appreciate feedback from someone who has sailed recently.
Rare OCSC Mike Posted May 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2022 No chance that you can't wear sandals in WJ.
loman Posted May 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I would guess that translates into no bare feet ?
leaveitallbehind Posted May 22, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2022 In 30 years of cruising with RCCL that is a T&C detail I have missed! Certain we have worn flip flops, etc., coming from the solarium for lunch. Have to believe they mean no bare feet.
topnole Posted May 22, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2022 You can wear flip flops in any restaurant. Rare would this be enforced in specialty restaurants let alone WJ.
lovelife Posted May 22, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I only pack/wear FitFlops on cruises (except Alaska or other cold weather sailings) so yes, flip-flops are acceptable.
Rare crewsweeper Posted May 22, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2022 speaking from experience, barefeet are not allowed. Entered the Solarium Bistro once from Solarium lounger 10 feet from bistro door to grab an refill on coffee, maitre d' said I had to turn around and get shoes on even though I was 1/32 way from pouring coffee into cup.
pcur Posted May 22, 2022 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2022 I've read two articles in the last two days that appear to be written by or about "experts". It makes me laugh at what some people will throw out there. Rule of thumb in the Windjammer: make sure there is a sole of some footwear between your foot and the floor. The one that got me this morning was a couple that found it cheaper to retire on a cruise ship. OK, sounds good. The wife is a retired accountant and crunched the numbers. She found out what most of us know. That's good. What she missed is how much more she would get for free IF THEY STAYED WITH ONE CRUISE LINE. They are bouncing all over, which would drive me nutz. Unpack, stay for a loooooong time: I'm good.

broadwaybaby123 Posted May 22, 2022 #10 Share Posted May 22, 2022 It may be a rule but I've rarely seen it enforced.

That if you are not wearing fully covered shoes and something falls or dropped ie knife, hot ,food etc on your foot you will have a hard time suing them . shipgeeks Posted May 22, 2022 #12 Share Posted May 22, 2022 FWIW, If you ever want to do a galley/behind the scenes tour, or get invited to the bow for sailaway, you must wear shoes that completely cover your feet.

Nope, you can easily file a suit. As they don’t enforce the policy, one might even win.
