B2B on different ships?

Has anyone done this? Thinking of Eurodam Panama Canal 10-8 to 10-29 ending in FLL, then getting on to the Nieuw Standendam doing a 7 day Caribbean leaving on 10-29 from FLL. Both would be Casino offers so 28 days at sea for taxes and fees and you get to experience 2 different ships.

I know people do it all the time!  It's what I am doing (sort of) this fall also.  I'm going on Nieuw Amsterdam Vancouver to FLL then off for a few days in Ft. Lauderdale then on to Rotterdam to the Caribbean.  I wanted to go straight from one ship to the other like you are, but the dates were off a couple of days.

People have reported on doing this in FLL and said they just took a cab from one ship to the other.  I didn't do a search for the threads, but they are here on Cruise Critic within the last 6 months.

Have a blast!!!

Funny you should mention this.  I have an AK cruise on the Eurodam in 9 days and decided to add a Westerdam AK one 1 day after I return to Seattle.  Wanted to add a Konningsdam cruise but it was leaving out of Vancouver the day I arrive back into Seattle and the transfer would have been really tight.  So even though I am essentially going to the same places, it gives me much more time to explore.  🙂

We are also on the NA, Oct. 8 but from SD to FLL, 17 days, then staying on for 5 more days, then transferring to the Rotterdam the same return day in FLL for 3 Caribbean b2b's, 53 days total, should be a blast! Will be very interesting to see and feel the differences in the 2 HAL ships.

This is commonly called a side to side, or a S2S.

Thanks, @CruiserBruce. I've been on Cruise Critic for years, but not seen that acronym before. I like it!

Does it apply whether one cruises both "sides" on different lines, do you think, or only the same cruise line?

If it's on two different ship, no matter the cruise line, it would be a S2S, for consistency, I would think.

Interesting on the S2S.  I have been calling them B2B’s on the Future Cruise Listing & Bon Voyage threads.  Way back, when the first one appeared I went checking - Apparently they are commonly called B2B by Cruise Critic definitions so that’s what I did.

“What are back-to-back cruises?

Back-to-back cruises are two or more cruises booked consecutively, whether on the same ship or on different ships. You'll want to let someone at the front desk know you're a back-to-back cruiser during the first part of your trip so arrangements can be made for you during the changeover day between the sailings.” Copy and pasted from -  https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2327

Our house is going to get a major remodel that might take 6 weeks, so with any luck I can be away from all that noise.

Thats very brave of you to not be around to check the quality and progress along the way! Myself and just about everyone else I know who has done a remodel this year has dealt with horrible contractor issues. Poor quality, delays, not showing up etc.

Do you have to get another negative covid test before getting on the 2nd ship?  Would be hard to do if you get off and on the morning.

For me, I bought the eMed proctored tests.  They came in 2s so I have one for both cruises:  https://store.emed.com/s/category/covid19-athome-test-with-verified-lab-report-emed/0ZG8c000000LZXk?c__results_layout_state={}

Yea once I transfer to the Nieuw Standendam I see an Opportunity of doing 4 Back to Backs on her using the Casino special. So a possibility of 49 days at Sea for the admission price of taxes and fees.

Plus presumably whatever money you lost in the casino

I would do the eMed at home tests. You can use your phone and do the monitored test from the ship before you disembark (or a day or two before even) assuming you have internet or cell connection that is strong enough.
