pe4all Posted June 18, 2022 #51 Share Posted June 18, 2022 As I have a pacemaker there are certain "things" I cannot have on my body or use - Disney's magic bands are one of them. Had to get a card the last 2x there. I would still use a card if CCL switches to a newer technology. And I already hate carrying my phone with me everywhere on the ship. Miss the days when I used to get on the ship and lock my phone in the safe for the 7 days I was on the ship!

I got away with just a stent (and meds) when I had my STEMI heart attack two years ago now but it's always good to know med.technology.
Colorado Cruzer Posted June 18, 2022 #53 Share Posted June 18, 2022 card or just let us have a qr code that links to our account on the phone. I don't like to wear any lanyards or anything on my wrist ever.
Djptcp Posted June 18, 2022 #54 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Prefer to keep the key card as I wear a watch on one wrist and bracelets on the other. Would hate to have to wear a wrist band. No phone links please. Too many things are already done that way and we only use our cell phone when going on land vacations, otherwise it sits in my purse unused. Not everyone's life is tethered to a cell phone.

Get back to what was in use 5-7 years ago when peeling simply was not a problem! People have no idea the silly extremes to which Corporations are goingto save 6.4 cents on every 100 cards issued. That's exactly the problem. The card stock might be that old.

Just fyi - I also can't use any type of wireless EarPods, or even an Apple Watch! Might just be the kind of pacemaker I have (it is 7 years old right now). Either way, I am falling behind on the technology other people have - lol.
lennythenose Posted June 18, 2022 #58 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Lanyard for me. Even at Disney I bought a “pendant” thingy that I could use instead of the wrist band.

Card stock might be that old but the laminate layer goes on with your info printed on it, just before you arrive! crooooze Posted June 18, 2022 #61 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Definitely prefer the card... so after the cruise, it can be inserted into the cool leather business card portfolio with all the others.
Ihearttravel11 Posted June 18, 2022 #62 Share Posted June 18, 2022 I wouldn't mind a wristband. I wear an ID badge for work. A lot of people have theirs on a lanyard. I ended up putting mine in a badge protector, and using a carabiner, attached it to my belt loop. It works so much easier for me. I highly recommend trying this out (as long as you have on something with a belt loop) if a lanyard is not something you like. I plan on doing the same thing for my sign and sail card. It takes two to bond.

I like my card to be in the front flap of my cruise pocketbook that I carry everywhere. Usually I make my hubby carry mine but I'm going solo so I'm bringing my cute new purse. This cruise I have to bring reading glasses 🤣
crazy4themouse Posted June 20, 2022 #65 Share Posted June 20, 2022 I don't think anyone would have to choose only one way to carry their shipboard ID... Whether it be a chip-embedded physical card, NFC-capable phone, wristband, QR code tattooed on your forehead, whatever, it's all still basically the same technology. I usually have my card on a lanyard, but I am a huge fan of Disney's MagicBands. And really, if nothing else I think Carnival is missing out on a huge money-making opportunity... MagicBands are addictive -- Different colors to match your outfits, ones for different holidays and special events, limited-release bands, etc. etc. I have a wardrobe of MagicBands, lol. Carnival could offer bands with the iconic funnel all over them, beach-themed, Funship Freddy, glow in the dark, you name it. Ship-specific bands! I know I'm not the only one who would be collecting them. 🙂

I refuse to wear a lanyard (I said what I said) and it would reduce the need for me to carry a purse. I'm sure if you are male or have pockets its not a big deal but I like to wear sundresses and they usually don't have pockets. I have seen a few people use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Line-Wrist-Coil-Chain/dp/B072Q366PP/ref=asc_df_B072Q366PP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198110873947&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7487208191953283328&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9052324&hvtargid=pla-350766579111&psc=1 Since you're not in favor of wearing a lanyard, this might be an option worth considering. Bluelock Posted June 21, 2022 #68 Share Posted June 21, 2022 I’d love to have a wrist one! I also hate lanyards! I used to use a half card holder attached to an alligator clip. It’s great for most things. Easy to take the card out and hand it to the bar tender, or just extend it to get into the cabin. I think this trip I’m going to take a purse because of needing to carry my phone around. I’m a leave it in the safe person usually, but ya can’t do that if you want to book dinner or find out where the heck my wife went to now! She just wanders off a lot without letting me know where she’s at. Like when I told her I was getting breakfast and I’d meet her back in the room, and she decided to get off the ship. So I panicked for an entire hour until I thought to check with guest services to see if she was still on board.
groundloop Posted June 21, 2022 #69 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Why even bother worrying about this? It would cost a fortune to change out the locks on each and every cabin door for them to be able to read a wrist band, it's just not going to happen.
Rare ashkir Posted June 21, 2022 #70 Share Posted June 21, 2022 When Carnival introduced the Medallion-class band they advertised it would come to the entire fleet for all Carnival lines. But, now they advertise it as an "elite" "luxury" for Princess. Makes me wonder if they ditched their plans to have it on the other ships.

Go to the Casino's cashier window and ask for one. They'll give you a casino red one. You can use it as a necklace or clip it to your purse, wallet, etc.

Djptcp Posted June 22, 2022 #75 Share Posted June 22, 2022 Just put the card in your pocket. I wouldn't wear a lanyard, but I have one from the casino I attach my card to it. I'm in the casino most of the time when it's open and attach the lanyard to my small purse so I won't leave my card in a slot machine when I go to another one. So often I go to a slot and someone has left their card in it.
