Live from Quantum of the Sea's June 20th.

Hi all, I know another live thread from the Quantum of the Sea's.  This was, like most of them in June of 2021. But we all know how that turned out. Mmmhmmm...

 

But here we are finally. Our 1st Alaska cruise but probably our 20th overall. 15 or so with Rccl. We have been on 3 cruises since Dec 2021, Carnival Radiance 3 day Baja, Odessey of the seas over new years and the Celebrity Edge over spring break. (1st time on Quantum class and Edge class) so this is Numero #4 in 6 months which is crazy for us.  Usually once per year.

We are here in Seattle for a couple days prior to the cruise. We have rented a car and will explore a little bit. My wife and I lived here back in mid 90's for a few years so we want to see some of our old sites like Hurricane Ridge and the Kitsap peninsula. 

 

Thank goodness our flight from San Diego to Seattle was uneventful. No cancellations, no delays etc.  Bad News Bears and Bloody Marys, don't think it can get any better 🤣

It's cruise day, sorry for the long delay. We spent all day yesterday exploring. 

 

 

We are staying at the Edgewater Hotel right at the water front.  The NCL Bliss and Encore are right next to us. This would be a perfect hotel for the pier 66 folks.

 

 

 

I forgot this one, as we're flying in, just the tippy top of My Rainier.

 

 

The weather has been very Seattle like, very gloomy. I don't remember it being like this in June, usually it's really nice. But luck of the draw I guess. 🫤

Like I said yesterday was a whole day of exploring, mainly the Olympic Peninsula. Just love it over there and the best part is you can take the ferry over. So cool, been a long time since we've been on these ferries.

Last Royal ship was Odyssey, I guess we'll be doing a lot of comparing. Definitely going to miss Playmakers.

I’m originally from SD, and this month has reminded me of the SD June Gloom. It has been extremely damp this month too, but looks like 80’s coming this weekend. My oldest daughter ended up back in SD, so I still visit quite a bit.

I'd be interested on any information on the Key line for embarkation.  Do you see one, etc.  Good luck, we board in 2 weeks, and I'm most nervous about getting on the ship!

Aaaaah I LOVE the Edgewater!! Yes, it is perfect for Pier 66 but even worth the drive when you're not. 😉

We had 1 guest in a wheel chair and the directed us to the Key line. Very short at 1st, after that was check in, since we had the wheel chair we pretty much sailed right on. And just so you all know, no checking of vaccine card or negative test. I don't even know where they would have asked for it. Like I said, we were kinda in the ada lines so maybe other lines were different. Either way I think the embarcation process seemed really good.

We're on deck 13, kinda forward. Almost the exact same spot on Odessey but starboard side.

Checking in June 10 in Seattle for Ovation they did not check our vax status or check the Arrive Canada form. They did check the negative test results.  I had read one couldn't board without the Arrive Canada form - guess you can!

Sorry about the long delay. So far it's been a great cruise. Lots going on. Definitely full or close to full. Feels way more crowded then our Odessey cruise. 

 

Sail away from Seattle was beautiful.

Sorry the wifi has been terrible. I try and post things and it sits forever. 

 

Big news today is we are missing our port of call at Skagway due to a mudslide that has damaged the peir we would dock at. So instead we are heading to the Endicott Arm and Dawes glacier today and we'll have a full day in Juneau tomorrow instead of being there from 2pm to 8pm we'll be there 8am to 7pm. 

 

I called the company I booked my excursion with who is in Skagway said the mudslide was pretty bad and dock is pretty bad too. Again that's her words, not mine. We were almost there, maybe an hour to go and the ship did a 180, thought maybe he was showing both side of the ship the scenery, but nope he kept going south. 

 

If I hear anything else, I'll let y'all know
