Newbie Diamond Question

Recommended Posts

I have booked a cruise next spring for my husband and myself along with our son, DIL and three children. We currently have one cabin with us and one grandchild. The second cabin has our son, DIL and two children. We have tossed the idea around of having a “guy” and a “girl” cabin. That would be my husband, son and grandson in one cabin and myself, DIL and two granddaughters in the other cabin. We have not been on a Royal cruise since becoming Elite on Celebrity which makes us Diamond on Royal. My question is how our Diamond benefits will be affected with me in one cabin and my husband in another cabin?

Your diamond perks/benefits will not be effected at all. They are based per person not by cabin.

No matter who else is in your cabin, only the guest who is actually Diamond will receive the Diamond benefits. Non Diamond guests will not be allowed to accompany you to the Diamond lounge or get any of the coupons on their sea pass card.

However, you can buy 4 drinks/day (typically $13 limit) with your Diamond coupons for anyone.  Likewise you get one 24 hour surf internet each per cruise that can be shared by anyone once you set up the login on your account.

I believe if you have the diamond members in the separate rooms you would get the balcony discount on each room if you booked balconies.  We always book 2 connecting rooms (for the 2 bathrooms) because we go with my 2 adult children.  We're all diamond, but my husband and I separate to get any 55+ discounts for both rooms.

Good info. There will be a grandkids cruise one of these days and this will be useful.

Once you're on board  RCL don't care who is in what room. We booked two rooms for ourselves   DD  DDs partner  and grandson

On paper ( as far as the booking goes,) it was a boys room and a girls room.  Once on board  a quick trip to GS and room cards rearranged.

We've done this at check-in at the pier. It was great when SeaPasses were issued at check-in. Now that the Sea Passes are waiting for you at your cabin, we have to go to Guest Services now to get them changed.
